I'm not one to often agree with Eric Wynalda, In fact, this may be the first time I've ever done so, but I really do believe Klute is the answer to our LB problems (If we are deadset on Fab playing further up). I only saw a couple of Rapids games this past season, but I really liked what I saw from Klute and at 6'3 but with speed, he definitely looks the part.
From what I've gathered the dude has the personality of a brick wall, but I don't give a frick, the kid can defend in the back but also can move up on the attack.
Here's hoping he is having a stellar January camp.

Even if he does I would be surprised as hell if he passed up Beasley in Jurgen's pecking order.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. I didn't imply that and Jurgen relies heavily on MLS players.
Also kind of insane how just a year ago he was playing in the NASL and now he's in consideration for the full NT.

I see what you're trying to do, but that is too blanket of a statement and nobody has ever stated on this board that every single player in the MLS is garbage.

The reason why I like Klute is that he is essentially a bigger, more physical Beasley in that he has the speed to threaten on the offensive end.

On a somewhat related note, how far off are we from having our A-list squad being a predominantly MLS squad?
And by predominantly I mean like 1 or 2 guys plays abroad.

I'd say maybe 2 or 3 cycles.
As it stands right now, we'd have Omar, Besler, Landy, Bradley, Deuce and possibly Jermaine in the XI.

Possibly Zusi and Brad Evans as well.
Evans seems unlikely at this point with the way Geoff Cameron is playing at RB right now for Stoke, but I could see Zusi being the third attacking midfielder with Fabian Johnson moving to LB. It would make sense to me, at least.

Yeah, Zusi is definitely an option, but I think it comes down to us needing to have Johannsson's quality on the field. And that likely means, Aron to LM or in the hole (with Dempsey pushing to the left), Landy at RM with DMB and Zusi to the bench.
As for Evans, I think you have to look at Cameron or a healthy Cherundolo over him. He'll definitely be in the 23 though.

Yeah, I agree with you. It sucks for Zusi if he isn't a starter because he was really good throughout the qualifiers imo, but at the very least I could see him being a great option of the bench in Brazil, both offensively and defensively because of his passing and his work rate.
I think Jozy needs to play well in the friendlies leading up to the WC, because if he doesn't, and Aron keeps knocking in goals for AZ, I wonder if Aron would be the guy up top instead of Josmer. If that were the case, I could see a formation with Aron and Deuce interchanging between the playing up top and in the hole. idk, I'm just thinking out loud, maybe that is a terrible idea

I think Jozy is safe, Klinsi knows his quality and also knows that he is not getting any help from the Sunderland midfield (at least he has said that).
I think, using players that have been involved in the WCQ process, our best lineup possible would be:
Howard
Cameron-Gonzales-Besler-Fab
Jones-Bradley
Donovan-Johannsson-Dempsey
Altidore

Never seen this kid play. Hopefully he gets some PT against S Korea and I will pay attention to him.
And someone mentioned it but right now with how he is playing Cameron has to be our #1 RB. He has delivered some excellent crosses in as of late and is light years better than Evans on D.

Just looked up Clute, and I'm trying to figure out what happened to him between 2008 and 2011. Pretty conspicuous gap on his resume

No I just mistyped it in my post. He has nothing of note in his Wiki profile for a 2.5 year period, no college soccer, semi-pro, anything.

I was curious too.
I saw him play a few times for Atlanta, and he was thoroughly unremarkable, though solid. Didn't really watch him play for the Rapids, so I was kind of surprised to see his name kicked around so heavily. I can understand his rapid improvement if he just didn't do fricking anything for two years.

Thanks. Interesting story. He basically just sat around for a year and did oil changes for another. It's amazing how a guy like that can almost slip through the cracks.
