After presiding over two of the worst defeats for the club in its storied history patience has grown thin for Sarri and his unrelenting entrenchment in his tactics while Roman has proved to be an owner with an itchy trigger finger. Remember that they wanted Peps head at City in his first year too. Look what patience has brought them, but I don’t think pep ever lost 6-0 after losing 4-0. All of a sudden zizou looks awfully tempting given hazards affinity for the man. If hazard leaves it’s going to be a very long winter, yet I wonder how long the winter will prove to be if Sarri stays. One thing is for certain Chelsea must improve in their transfer dealings, preferably before next summer.

I still miss Drogba

At this rate he won’t see the end of the season. Chelsea need to blow the squad up and start fresh.

I find it hilarious that Chelsea are in a Cup Final, the 5th Round of the FA Cup, have a very good shot at Europa League, and in the race for the Top 4... but yet are in total crisis mode because they've had a bit of a blip over the past month and lost to one of the best teams in Premier League history.

Give me a break.

He is prepared to lose his job before changing his tactics. I can’t decide if I think this is just brilliant or downright stupid. It’s too early to tell for sure but the way he’s performing I don’t think he will last long enough to find out.

Also, I think Chelsea effed up by getting rid of Conte.

Conte wanted to scrap the deadwood on the squad, but apparently that didn't fly eith ownership/management.

Spurs fan fwiw.
But the overreaction from sucking Sarri off the first 3 months of the season to slagging him off now is mindboggling.

You're never as good as you think you or an you're never as bad as you think you are.
Chill with the knee-jerk overreactions.

Also: playing Kante out of position should be a fireable offense in itself.

It is sort of knee jerk reaction but I think it’s just his stubbornness and personnel choices. Also, throwing players under the bus constantly is never good.

Losing the lockeroom, Hazards inevitable move, garbage defense, and refusing to change tactics is enough to dismiss him and start fresh IMO.

Pulisic must be thrilled to get started there

They should have never fired Conte

the club has no stability or vision what so ever.

Sarri isn't an issue. The issue is the club has no clear strategy other than winning in the here and now. They don't build toward anything.

Sarri is a fine manager. He has done well and played beautiful football wherever he's gone. Unfortunately, our club doesn't back managers. We hired a guy who plays a specific style and then didn't give him the players he needed to suit that style. We signed Jorginho in the summer and Higuain now at the last second in January. We desperately need upgrades at every position in the back four. We need someone to fill that third midfield spot. We need a competent RW. We also went into the season with Conte running training sessions. The club is just mismanaged from the top down. Sarri's system is complex. It'll take time to master. You also have to remember Chelsea's squad has been trained to do almost the opposite of what Sarri wants since Mourinho took back over. He played defensive and on the counter. Conte also is known for a resolute/compact team. Now those same guys (some capable, others not) are having to flip a switch and try the exact opposite style almost.

The club recruits players it can sell on for profit (or at little to no loss), even if they don't pan out for us. It's not targeted like Liverpool or City who have brought in guys that suit exactly what they're going for. Chelsea is just a collection of players, and the squad has less of an attachment to the crest every year, and I hate when people say corny stuff like this. CHO needs to play every game and be convinced to stay. RLC needs to be used more, even just for the club culture. Reece James should get a look next season.

It sounds so dorky, but you went from a spine of Cech, Terry, Lampard, Drogba to whatever this is now. Those four guys + others (Ivanovic, Cole, etc) would've gone to war for each other. This season, the only guys I feel like who have covered themselves in glory are Kante and Kepa. Dave I think has the right mindset, but he's clearly struggled moving back to RB.

Pep struggled his first season at City because he didn’t get the squad turnover he wanted. Freaking Jesus Navas was our starting right back.

Sarri’s tactics work with the right players. It would be foolish to sack him this soon imo.

Conte’s Undoing was firing Diego costa without consulting anyone else. If he had made amends he’d still have a job and we’d still be in the top 4 mix. Thats what started all of this mess.

Chelsea need a goal scorer not named eden. Conte burned bridges with the best striker to wear blue since Didier then summarily got the axe. Turns out Morata isn’t the answer to fill that void, now it’s Gonzalo’s turn to try before he and Sarri retire together from the Prem.

Lol it ain’t right whatever it is. I expected to see a change long before now but he’s so damn stubborn. I don’t know what is so wrong about adapting your tactics to suit the current team and it’s needs. I get he doesn’t have his players yet but isn’t that all the more reason to adapt until he does? It’s like he’s trying to jam that square peg in the round hole until the corners come off. Wtf?

I'm just a regular guy who watches a few games a week and I wrote this when Chelsea was hiring Sarri:

quote:

I have seen enough of Sarri to say he is a master tactician in employing his style. However, his fairy tell rise has been predicated on players who completely buy in and replacing those that do not. He is as far from a Ancellotti type that will tinker to get the most out of superstar talents as one can get.

If Chelsea is all in when that means Hazard has to go because he doesn't run enough to make Sarri's press effective or Kante's passing range isn't keen enough to play regista for him, Sarri will likely have great teams at Chelsea.

If the club is wishy-washy about roster changes that fit what Sarri envisions, this hire will end badly. It is a given that many star players will not like the work rate and specific roles that have made Sarri's teams so effective.

I have no idea if something has changed in the mindset of the decision makers at Chelsea from watching the success system managers like Pep or Klopp are enjoying but, if not, this is a naively hopeful hire.

I agree. This is where the rubber meets the road and we find out just how committed Chelsea are to seeing this play out. You’d have to think they saw this day coming, made the commitment anyway, and are prepared to take the ride wherever it leads.
