7.5 year contract on a guy who hasn’t proven it at this level of league is audacious. He looks like a solid player but we don’t really know what we are getting.
I don’t disagree, but Chelsea need goals.
This guy has the potential to be impactful.
The Blues aren’t in a position to be selective.
If goals aren’t found soon, Chelsea could miss out on Europe. This decision is being made for the future (hence the length of time), bug also for the here and now.
The roster is decimated. A couple of lively attackers is not a bad thing. Chelsea is within striking distance of 5th place, but a few more bad results and they may be fricked.
This guy looks like he could be a star down the road. But he also fills a void.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Second most expensive signing ever and actually a 8.5 year deal. Go got more proven players in desperation.

Yeah this is not a beauty contest. A win is a win. Kepa looked good.

Kepa has been a complete 180. At the same time, unreal Mendy lost form after being arguably the best goalie in the world for a year.

12-1 record when I’m at Chelsea games. Y’all are welcome

Like whom?
I mean, who is available right now?
Is it a gamble, yup.
That being said, he looks to have a tremendous upside.
No matter. He signed. I hope that he plays like he has of late. His skill set looks to be top shelf.

Man that’s awesome. Was it tough to get tickets? Were they in the visitors stand?

Ask your hotel concierge. Some of them have personal contacts, but can usually get you club level stuff. The way Chelsea is playing it shouldn’t be insanely expensive unless you’re going to a really big game. If you’re using a travel company ask them too. Do NOT use stub hub or something like that

It’s nearly impossible to get tickets to any games in the visitors stands without a personal contact with season tickets they will sell/lend you. Everything will be in the home section of whatever game you go to.

Can't believe SCH hasn't jumped in to point out the empty seats yet.

Wow. They’re gonna turn over the roster. Wish there was room for Hakim but it doesn’t look like it, plus they’ll need the funds.

Not gonna be room for Ziyech puli Sterling.

To answer some questions on how Chelsea are able to spend so much.
1. Roman made Boehly x Clearlake sign a contract to spend £1.5 billion on the squad. This, also includes an agreement that dividends cannot be taken from the club for 10 YEARS.
2. On spending, simply put amortization. By signing u21 players on 7yr deals, Chelsea are able to spread the cost. Eg, when they sign Mudryk, according to FFP, only 40 million will appear on this years books. Whilst the balance is played over 7 years.
3. For Chelsea fans saying how can we spend 100 on Mudryk but not Enzo. Paying a transfer fee, eg 100m for Mudryk, is different from a release clause. transfer fee means spread costs(less than 10m a year x7). A clause is paid at once, meaning 120m on the books.
That would put Chelsea on the wrong side of FFP, meaning we get charged, a transfer ban or even a UCL ban.
IMO, Benfica demanding 120m for a player who they signed for 12m 5 months ago is absurd. They have no guarantee clubs will come with a similar offer in the summer.
Or if he will still have the same hype as post WC
They chose to embarrass Chelsea in the media rather than negotiate. Benfica never wanted to sell so saying pay the RC is a way of fending off clubs, it worked.
Chelsea have found a workaround to FFP, whilst onlookers complain
