David Beckham, Juninho, Roberto Carlos, Steven Gerrard, Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo......?
Has there ever been a Top 5 or 10 soccer board list for the best free kickers?

I'm sure Bleacher Report has a slideshow covering that somewhere.

I'd take even Jimmy Bullard with fully functional legs over Ronaldo wrt %goals scored
Purely hypothetical, but yeah
Ronaldinho would rival many mentioned in the thread. Underrated striker of the ball

Juninho was better

Roberto Carlos has one of the best, if not the best, single freekicks of all time. '97 against France.
He turned that kick into a fricking physics thinkpiece.

also a beaut, but would assume that was dumb luck and not calculated technique?

dunno about better, actually it isn't better than his free kick.
I've done that in game, a few of my teammates/against our team as well, heck Maicon did that in a game not long ago either with even more bend from the opposite side. The only difference from any I've seen is that his(RC's) was struck so fast and hit U90
Juninho probably best I've ever seen at free kicks fwiw.

i can't see how either could be calculated/expected

I think you can tell by the out-swinging, obtuse trajectory his leg takes in the free kick that he's putting mustard on a particular spot on the ball.
either that or he stepped on a banana right before hand and cried "zoinks!" as his leg shot out serendipitously in the correct spot.

he did do this, kinda, about 50 times after the legend of that FK grew and he was said to be so awesome at FKs
