he's given a lot of grief by USA fans, but he's been rock solid as of late.

There was a noticeable drop in our midfield output when he was subbed out yesterday. He doesn't have a glorious role by any means, but he performs admirably.

I don't think he is underrated, but I do think he gets too much shite from people

He knows how to play against the el Salvadors, costa ricas, and hondurases of the world. He's tough and not very flashy. Jurgen clearly loves him for that. But come World Cup time were gonna need the more skilled players out there. But I do praise him for what he's done in this tournament.

This.

He plays an important role in the GC. Against better competition his lack of athleticism catches up to him though.

Mix wasn't very good yesterday.

I'm not even saying that he should be in the final 23, or that he's a top 4 or 5 CM in our player pool. I just think he plays much better than people give him credit for.

He's been right there with Landon in terms of our most important players this GC.

He's much better when he isn't paired w/ Jones or Edu.

I love his grit in the center. He strikes a decent long ball (both pass and shot.)

But sonovabitch, he will never let the ball come through (or continue through) the midfield. The ball gets passed to him, he stops it, and plays whatever is directly in front of him.

Multiple times, his midfield partner was wide arse open behind him, with the outside player making another run behind that, and he just squashed the attack and played a simple 12 yard pass.

Pick your head up! Maybe Cameron can teach him that little jog step he uses to switch fields.

Oh, and stop doing stepovers and then dribbling over the end line.

I think yesterday was his best game of the tournament by far. I don't think he's underrated at all. I think he's just as good as he'll ever be. The second half against El Salvador was decent, but his first half was pretty bad.

I actually think he's been incredibly consistent this entire gold cup, last night was not an abberation by any means.

Cameron strikes me as a much better version of Beckerman. Like, a WQ quality Beckerman.

Beckerdreads is fine. Hard-nosed, holds it well in the midfield, occasionally can provide great service into the box.

Solid-to-good Gold Cup level player for us.

I'd argue that the drop in talent from Bradley, jones, Cameron to Beckerman is greater than that of Beckerman to mix and Holden.

I wouldn't argue against that. again, this isn't a Beckerman is a world beater thread, or me lobbying for his inclusion in the A-team. Just a slight vent about him receiving a lot of unjust criticism. And not necessarily from this board in particular.

This has been my issue with him since day 1.

I think he's been one of two or three best players during this whole GC. He's played some really, really pretty passes. I haven't ever seen this sort of range or hustle out of him.

Solid player, but who cares? He's at best the 5th sub on the World Cup team.

Beckerman has a very defined role and he plays that role very well. When he moves out of that role, you can definitely tell. He's an important player to have available.

He is too inconsistent imo.

He will make some good plays and then make 2 or 3 of the worst ones in the whole game. See vs El Salvador. Dude just straight up fricked up on a few plays.

per the NY times, the only player that graded out higher than Beckerman that game was Landon Donovan.

This board can have a difficult time getting past pre-concieved opinions on a player.
