Brilliant performance by Chels today

The only way they were going to win is mucking up the game and taking advantage of opportunities.

They're earning your respect by playing 11 people behind the ball? yeah, that's great soccer.

Why the hell do you people have such a branch up your asses about the way they're playing? They just advanced past Chelsea to the final in what is likely the only realistic way they could.

And for your information, I was speaking in reference to how John Terry pulled a typical John Terry and douched out completely and royally, fricking over his team. Yet they kept their heads up, in what was probably the greatest football adversity they have ever had to face as professionals, and found a way to advance. Any team could have and almost definitely would have folded in that situation. They didn't.

And because of that they earned my respect.

You would be a hell of a coach. Don't worry about the result guys, let's just go out there and play pretty. Get the frick out of here with that bullshite. You wouldn't have the nuts to look at anyone on that Chelsea side in the eye after the match and say they don't deserve it. Those guys played their arse off today.

Never said I would be a coach, I'm a fan. And as a fan its a tragedy that they're rewarded for the type of soccer I played at recess in elementary school.

Obviously it's beautiful to you, it's your team, and they won.

If Chelsea played against everyone like this, I would hate it. The only chance we had to go through was using these tactics....and guess what? IT frickING WORKED!!!!!!!

Because you know they're a better team?

Either that or your statement is false, and it was possible to win in a normal fashion.

Buuut I guess that's why different people are fans of different teams. Some prefer stoke with a bigger budget, some prefer Swansea with a bigger budget

Yes they are a better team. Not a single human who watches soccer would deny that. AND...
Chelsea took the scant few chances they had and it paid off. Barca took plenty chances and guess what didn't convert them. I would love to see your recess soccer team and shake their hands for being incredible defensive juggernauts. Go back to the arsenal thread and jerk off to jack wilshire and moan about no Arteta.

This sin't to say Barcelona isn't great but for all the talk of the greatest club team ever it's kind of a massive underachievement to lose La Liga and not make it out of the CL semi-finals.

For all the talk of Pep moving on, I would be surprised to see him leave after such a disappointing season.

Also, for all the talk of needed support for Messi, it may be the tactics of of moving defenders out and midfielders to the back line that ended up being a problem. Maybe at GK as well: for all the praise Valdes gets, he strikes me as a fairly average GK that passes well.
Sanchez is certainly no huge drop off from Villa who also wasted his fair share of chances recently.

Been saying this for years. Couldn't agree more.

Yep. I never got the praise that people give to Valdes. He's always been average at best and when he first started at Barcelona he was actually pretty terrible.

I want Barca to jump to a 2-0 lead, with Chelsea scoring a goal at the 90' to snatch the spot in the final. Yes I'm still mad about '09

What a call.

Yes, I know the stoppage time goal was just insurance, but still.

Yeah, I sure hope so. Winning it in Munich might cause Germany to implode.

Maybe. They certainly need some players who can actually defend. It seems more and more Pep is willing to sacrifice team width to build the formation around Messi. And something has to be said for constantly playing world class players out of position.

Normal tactics? Barca was playing with one defender and 10 attackers and they got beat. There were no normal tactics on either side of this match.

You may have found this match boring but I certainly did not. I thought the second 45 min were some of the most intense I've seen in a long time. Most people I have talked to felt the same.

Sometime I think the decision to play Valdes is based on the fact that he can play the ball well out of the back. He doesn't seem to be an excellent shot stopper.
