Goal.com: Why Barcelona's spending limit has been slashed to just €270m by La Liga
ESPN.com: Barca money woes continue: Spending limit slashed by €379m
This is going to keep coming up year after year, after they used so many "levers" to permanently strip revenue away from the club.
Barca is a fricking shite show.

Barcelona's new wage ceiling for the current campaign has been set at €270 million, a significant decrease from the €648 million ceiling established in February when La Liga notified all clubs of their compensation levels for the upcoming five months when they would be reviewed again after the conclusion of the January transfer window. Real Madrid's La Liga budget for the 2023–24 season is €727 million, while Atletico Madrid's is also slightly higher than Barca's at €296m.

Barça reduced annual sporting costs from €560m to around €400m, but they still exceed the league's cap. This means they face restrictions when the transfer window reopens in January, considering spending on other teams like the B team, women's team, and basketball team.
ESPN.com: Barca money woes continue: Spending limit slashed by €379m
quote:
The limit is roughly determined by the difference between a team's revenue minus non-sporting outgoings and debt repayments.
The final figure accounts for the maximum amount clubs should spend on wages, bonuses and amortisation payments on transfers across a season, not how much they are necessarily spending. Clubs that breach their limit are subject to spending restrictions.
Barca's drop, in part, is due to the decreasing affect of the "palancas" -- assets sold off by the club last summer to improve their short-term finances -- and was widely expected.

Once again, though, the money did not arrive before the end of the transfer window and forced president Joan Laporta and his board of directors to put up a guarantee of €20m to be able to register all the club's summer business with LaLiga.

Karma for having refs on the payroll during the 00s/10s. Guess they ran out of financial levers to pull.

Good they deserve it for mortgaging their future income
They probably shouldn't have been allowed to sign half of the players they did in the past ~3 years

They just kept flaunting the rules and thinking blaming the former board would make everyone think it's ok. They even had to accuse literal important players on her team of committing crimes to try to coerce them into taking pay cuts. That along with selling their future makes this one of the craziest sports stories of recent history. They didn't even construct an elite tea
m with all of this soul-selling.

Mes que un club
That being said, the craziest part was the Barca fans saying guys HAD to do that for their club
It’s like they think they shouldn’t have to have rebuilding years

I hate all these clubs that spend loads of cash just so they can have bandwagon fans.

Spending limit was cut EVEN lower.
quote:
Barcelona's annual spending limit has been cut by a further €66 million ($71m), reduced from €270m to €204m, LaLiga announced on Tuesday.
quote:
After being previously cut by €400m in September, the latest limits reveal the scale of the challenge facing Barça as they attempt to become competitive in the transfer market once again.
Sources have told ESPN that squad costs -- which is what the cap regulates -- are over €400m, which is more than double the LaLiga-imposed limit.
As a result, the Catalan club are subject to financial restrictions. They are only allowed to spend a percentage of what they save in salaries or raise in transfer fees, with the percentage varying depending on how big the saving is.
quote:
Barça's latest reduction is related to a range of factors. In part, it is due to the continued decreasing effect of the "palancas" -- assets sold off by the club in 2022 to improve their short-term finances -- which increased their limit as high as €656m at the start of the 22-23 campaign.
However, the money from one of those asset sales -- Barça Studios, which has since been rebranded as Barça Vision -- was never paid in full and led to the club re-selling it last summer to a company called Libero. That money has still not arrived.

has been set at €270 million
This is why it’s lame to root for teams like Barca, Liverpool, etc.

Damn, where will they get the budget to sign more World Class players like Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Vitor Roque, and Jules Kounde now?
I will never understand how these retards just don't really on La Masia as much anymore
