Arsenal is going to wreck the MLS Allstars

And here is why:
MLS fans were responsible for naming the first 10 players that will play against Arsenal, while the final starting selection was made through the AT&T/EA SPORTS “More Than a Vote” Challenge. David Villa won the contest after receiving the most votes through FIFA 16.
Here’s a full list of the MLS roster (* denotes match starter):
GOALKEEPER (2): *Andre Blake (Philadelphia Union), David Bingham (San Jose Earthquakes)
DEFENDERS (8): *Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), *Laurent Ciman (Montreal Impact), *Keegan Rosenberry (Philadelphia Union), Brandon Vincent (Chicago Fire), Kendall Waston (Vancouver Whitecaps), Andrew Farrell (New England Revolution), Liam Ridgewell (Portland Timbers), Steve Birnbaum (D.C. United)
MIDFIELDERS (10): *Kaká (Orlando City SC), *Darlington Nagbe (Portland Timbers), *Andrea Pirlo (New York City FC), *Giovani dos Santos (LA Galaxy), Jermaine Jones (Colorado Rapids), Mauro Diaz (FC Dallas), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Wil Trapp (Columbus Crew), Sacha Kljestan (New York Red Bulls), Ignacio Piatti (Montreal Impact)
FORWARDS (6): *Didier Drogba (Montreal Impact), *Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC), *David Villa (New York City FC), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Cyle Larin (Orlando City SC), Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders)
I'm sure anyone with half a brain can see the problem with playing a 3-4-3 with two centerbacks and a RB, 3 #10s (two of whom never defend) and Pirlo in midfield, no defensive midfielders, and three #9s up top (meaning two will be pushed to the wings).
I like that MLS is trying to include the fans in this one, but having them select the entire starting lineup was a mistake. Maybe they should have selected two starters at defense, midfield, and forward and then have the coach fill out the rest of the starting lineup.
What does the SB think?

Evidences the soccer IQ of fans who voted

Happens every year it seems.
Just will be happy to watch all the players.

Pride cometh before the fall. (gestures towards West London)
ETA: Seriously, though, that lineup is rough. But that's what happens when you let a popularity contest pick the entire thing. This isn't like baseball.

I also wonder if this is a result of the way the vote was set up. If they asked people to pick their favorite players to start it's not surprising that more attacking players got the most votes.

I didn't mean it like that but can see how it came off as a little pretentious. Just meant these polls are usually the result of of people voting for their favorite players. A lot of the time people just vote for some incentive or giveaway at a game - like a free t-shirt or foam finger. Not really concerned with whether it all shapes into a viable formation or not.

Sit Pirlo (and/or Kaka) in front of the defense. David Villa and Giovinco spend plenty of time in the wide channels.
They can play somewhat convincingly.

That's be reserved for trivial matters, like who runs the country.

The MLS All-Stars have beaten the Champions of Europe. A shite side like Arsenal who is content to lose in the round of 16 each year will get crushed.

Then you don't watch MLS. Especially Ciman and Blake, both of whom are excellent.

Idk anything about this so I could be wrong but this makes it sound that the manager can do whatever he wants:
Sounds like the fan choices may not start?
quote:
The gameday roster, as selected by All-Star and San Jose Earthquakes head coach Dominic Kinnear, is made up of 26 players, 24 of which were selected by Kinnear while taking into consideration the Fan XI and player voting, plus Mauro Diaz and Kyle Beckerman, the Commissioner's two picks. All of the Fan XI selections – highlighted by reigning MLS MVP Sebastian Giovinco, US international midfielder Darlington Nagbe and world-class stars such as Kaká and Didier Drogba – were included on the gameday roster.

"a good team in one of the better leagues in the world will beat a hastily thrown together squad of less quality players," he explained for no particular reason
