Selling Traore is a good move, except for the fact we have no one to play LB. Mother of god this has been a shite-show of a summer.
I'm a big believer in the youth system, and I'm also a big believer in Wenger's philosophy, but at this point, we have to shell out something like a hundred million pounds to stay competitive. We can actually take on the debt quite well if we need to go that route. It's not like we will be insolvent.

Same here. It only works if you keep those players long enough to reap the rewards.

Agreed. If we're forced to play our best CB at LB because Wenger put all his faith in Gibbs being healthy, I'll be quite pissed. I don't think any of the Reserves are ready to step in as Gibbs' understudy. Jernade Meade looked really good (mainly going forward) in the MUFC Reserves match I watched, but he's not ready by any stretch of the imagination. Very short and not strong enough yet for the PL.

Yossi Benayoun?
That would be kind of like a Catholic playing for Rangers.

wait, what? you mean because he plays for chelsea, or are you referencing Arsenal's rampant antisemitism?

I thought this was why most on this board were fans. Was I wrong?

a qualification for TD's soccer board is some form of blind prejudice or jingoism, so I think you're right.
Also, incoming Torres snipe: "But this move wouldn't be that bad, right? I mean he's scored more than Torres in less appearances."

@YoungGuns
It's all kicking off. Turkish media say Arsenal have bid Andre Santos, while talk of a €35m bid for Mario Götze rejected.
"@kevinsharon- if we sign Goatse I'm throwing a lemon party!"

I guess they are different contexts, but it blows my mind that "Raccoon Eyes" Ozil went for 12 million and we can't pry away Gotze for 35.

Wasn't MJ in the last year of a contract?

yeah I believe that was the difference maker

Gotze is awesome, but are they seriously going after another U-23 guy as their big move?

Less-talented Alves.

frankly I can't think of many veteran, experienced players that are available to make us competitive in all comptetions. it's probably going to have to be a guy who isn't steeped in allegiance to any particular club.

Dortmund don't want to sell him this year. They want to make some noise in the Champions League. However, I think 35 mil is too small of a bid for Mario.
