So I'm slightly resigned to Van Persie leaving. I don't think we will sell him, but if Anzhi really offer £45 million, we would be stupid not to take it. I really hope we can keep Walcott and Song, because we need continuity.
I also hope we can get Yann M'Vila or a player like this. After watching this video of Alex Song's passes this season, LINK, I'm reminded of quite a few of our problems in midfield. The main problem that I see is that we don't press well as a team. I think it's because the midfielder at the apex of our three has a "free" role, which means he can move laterally or vertically to combine with wide players or the front player. This creates a little bit of confusion, as the defensive responsibilities are constantly changing, which creates confusion when the opposition has the ball, especially in situations where the opposition plays on the counter-attack. After stoppages of play, we revert to our typical shape, but it is in the run of play that we have problems pressing. I'm not sure there is a solution other than to make the responsibilities for each midfielder more strict. I think these OPTA stats back up what I'm saying. LINK (Look at the last paragraph)
Another interesting thing these stats show is the play of the midfielder at the apex of our midfield three, either Ramsey or Rosicky. Ramsey struggled this season, both in chance conversion, and being pensive on the ball. He was dispossessed 88 times, terrible for a midfielder. But he also created 51 chances, and when he played the ball quickly, he often had the ability to play very beautiful passes.
Rosicky was the more direct player, as he has that beautiful turn where he draws in the opposition player, then dribbles towards his own goal, while turning at an angle with speed, which opens him up to the front men where he can play the correct pass. Hopefully we can get one more good season out of him.
Also these stats show how amazing Arteta was this season. Simply superb, and it's a shame he couldn't turn it into a call for his national team.

I'm slightly resigned to the entire summer transfer window being disappointing. M'Vila would be awesome, but I'm sure he'll boss in the Euros and we'll be priced out of a move.
Not to sound like Arsene, but we'll (hopefully) get back Jackie Boy and Diaby (WHICH ARE LIKE NEW SIGNINGS AMIRITE?) and Ryo and Campbell should contribute thanks to their positive loan spells. The Ox should continue to improve. When we're healthy, we aren't far off. Just a couple of additions here and there and we should contend for trophies. The sad thing is, I don't think we'll even meet that low bar.

Slightly? You know you're an arsenal fan right?

That's the problem. We aren't healthy very often.
I'd love it if we bought one DM/DLP, one player who can play across the front 3, and one player who can deputize at LB/CB/RB. Send all the youngsters and fringe first teamers out on loan until they are 22/23, then either sell them or promote them to the first team.
If somehow we keep Van Persie, and he stays healthy next season, we should have a really deep team. I hope everything works out. It'd be nice to have a quiet, decent summer where things go in our favor for once.

True. Here's who we should have available next season:
ST: RvP, Podolski, Chamakh?, new signing?
FW: Theo, Gervinho, The Ox, Podolski, Ryo
MF: Rosicky, Ramsey, diaby, Wilshere, Arteta, Song, new DLP, Lansbury, Coquelin, Frimpong, DENILSON???
LB: Gibbs, Santos
CB: tv5, kos, per, new signing?, djourou, miquel
RB: Sagna, Jenkinson
GK: szcz, new signing?, Martinez?
Who am I missing?

Where are Fabianski and Mannone going?
Bendtner, Arshavin, and Vela will all be back from loans, although I don't expect any of them remain with the team through the summer.

Fabianski has been rumored at a few places, but it seems very likely our 3 backup keepers will be gone. I know we rate Martinez very highly, but he could user a loan spell before he's our number 2.
We should be able to get a decent sum for Vela. Shown he can be a successful striker in La Liga. Remains to be seen what will happen with some of these sales though.
