Just heard Arsenal set to release 7 people, one being Almunia. Any clue on the other 6?

Also is this minor Wilshere surgery something new, or the one he had a while ago during the latter half of the season?

Story from the mirror

Take it with a grain of salt though, the mirror is pretty terrible. Also, it says they are raising funds to sign Junior Hoilett from Blackburn.

Hoilett is out of contract available on a free

Well we do need to get rid of all those players. It's imperative we have a squad of 25 or so players who can actually contribute. We haven't had that in a while.

You needed to get rid of most of those players (Almunia, Denilson, Squill, Bendtner, Vela, Chamakh) last year though and it didn't happen. Djourou, Arshavin and Benayoun will most likely be gone as well.

Also Arsene seriously needs to spend some money to replace some of the squad players and more importantly replace them with quality. Stop gap signings like Arteta (who has been very good) and Santos and Park (who have not) are not gonna do it. Another summer like last and I can't imagine Arsenal finishing top 4 again next year, which would really be a pity. My best friend is an Arsenal fan and I've always liked the club quite a bit in both their style of play and the way the club is run. Would hate to see them get left behind.

Yeah we needed to get a lot of players out, but it's more difficult when they are on big wages. I'd rather just throw our youth players in to fill the gaps than continue with the same squad players, as at least they show potential.

As for falling out of the top four, it's been said every year since 2006, and it was only that year, and this year that we were even close (maybe 08-09, though we had no real challenger for 4th after Arshavin arrived). I might be inclined to believe it if Wenger left, but even if Van Persie leaves, I think we'll be in a strong position for the top four.

Just fyi, that Mirror writer (John Cross) is practically employed by Arsenal.

I think we can unload some of those guys, but what kind of market is there for Squillaci? Too pricey for lower level teams and no one good wants an aging defender who played a handful of games this season.

It would be good news to get rid of all those players for guys who could actually contribute. Aside from improving the starting XI we need to add quality/capable depth. Those guys listed would all be upgrades, but I don't know why we would want N'Zonzi if you are also getting M'Villa?

At the time of that purchase Jack was injured and we didn't have a holding mid, was Rosicky even healthy then, or Diaby?

I know, I'm merely pointing out that injuries happen. If we would have had better depth behind our injuries we might not have had such a bad start to the season.

Good thing I read that after your edit, I would have been so happy then deflated

@ Jumbeaux, yeah we simply didn't have depth. Losing 2 people we played in the center when needed in Cesc and Nasri hurt us so much. Part of that Wenger should have seen coming and picked up a player or two as security.

We'll know for sure after 11pm their time. Stupid embargo rule. Speculation it could be Theo, Yossi, or Adebayor. The news is from a North London club...

After last year's experience, I'm donning the earmuffs for the whole summer - no transfer rumors, no false hopes. When I check back in August, I fully expect to see Hazard and Gotze on the team.

This one might be better. I guess that's what he practices all day when the team is doing drills.
