They were time wasting. Arsene is rt, the refs let goal kicks and throw ins take 30-60 secs, but they cant incorporate replay? Its fricking stupid.

I don't really think the time wasting mattered in the end, but it was definitely evident. I watched the game on my DVR, and everytime there was a dead ball that went to Wigan, I fast forwarded. I dont even remember missing a second of live action. I'm pretty damn good with the remote, but I'm not that good. That is a sign they were taking far too long to get he ball back in play.

Having said all that, it really didn't matter in the end. It was pretty disheartening when I started thinking about just how few opportunities we created out there. A lot of possession and nothing really coming from it.

Another huge concern... we might be without Arteta for the rest of the season.

+ still no Kol for the chelski game. ugh.

Is he injured? His suspension should be over.

Forgot about the wolves game, yeah it's over.

And apparently gibbs was 50/50 for wigan, so he should be good.. I'd think. so maybe we'll have the starting 4 in the back (Per is back in camp as well now, he might be available soon)

So not all doom and gloom.

Here's hoping Barcelona runs Chelsea ragged and they are exhausted for the weekend.

Hope that one poster comes back so he can tell us to sell RvP again.

Yesterdays match was a good reminder that while our core is strong, our depth is shite. Still an important summer to strengthen our squad. Hopefully Bould as our #2 will help too.

I'm no expert on the human brain, but I'm pretty sure Santos forgot that he plays defense.

Yep. Our first XI has been as good as any in the PL the last couple of years (probably better than the Champions first XI in 07-08, 09-10, and 10-11) but our depth is turrible. This season has gone a long way to building depth, and we have to retain it. And we have to get rid of pointless squad players like Chamakh, Park, Squillaci, Almunia, and replace those players with decent veterans or promising youngsters. I'm pretty sure Park's place in the squad will be taken by Afobe with Chamakh's place taken by Podolski. Squillaci can be replaced by Bartley, and Almunia replaced by Martinez. It sucks that the Euros are this summer, as it would really help if we could rest all our players.

I think Afobe will go out on loan. His injury set him back. If Joel Campbell can secure a work permit, he'll take Park's spot. That kid is a special talent.

I'm just going off of what Wenger said recently (I think it was Wenger. It may have been some blogger). He said Afobe would be the most recent academy graduate to join the first team. Joel Campbell would be an excellent option as well. I'm pretty desperate for our academy to start producing players, which it looks like it is on the cusp of doing.

Besides Wilshere, our Academy seems to be producing fringe players. None of the players who have been hyped recently have panned out. I, too, am ready for some to breakthrough.

I feel like we are on the cusp of a really talented class of players. I feel that mainly the players coming through are a result of the 1996 reorganization of the academy. How many of those are top level players is difficult to guess. We need these kids to provide depth, so we don't have to spend £4 million on a player like Squillaci.

Yeah maybe. We've just heard so much about these players that past few years (Lansbury, Merida, Nordveit, Frimpong, Coquelin, Afobe, the "technically perfect" Aneke, Ozyakup, Gibbs, JET, Simpson, even going back to Bentley, Stokes, Lupoli, Muamba,, Larsson etc.) Who have had hype and shown little to no ability to be career Arsenal players. I know done of those I listed weren't true academy guys, but still, just seems like none of these current crop have progressed beyond being really fricking good in the reserve league or league one. I mean Aneke is 19. He was on the verge of breaking through before anyone had heard of Jack Wilshere. Afobe has been similarly hyped and has shown little ability to succeed at higher levels either.

I think Frimpong, Gibbs and Coquelin are pretty good bets to make it as squad players. JET was a mega talent, but he should have remained in defense. I hope Aneke and Afobe make it, as well as Miquel. I like those players for some reason.

I'm surprised no one touched Cesc's comments from yesterday's presser...

I read the report from ESPN's site.. they called it "taunting" and "backhanded compliments" but I really didn't see anything wrong with the quotes.

All I read them to say was Arsene let him do what he wanted to do and play where he wanted to play.

Arsenal played a behind closed doors game versus Oman today. Diaby played and had a slight reaction afterwards (shocker!) Henderson on standby for Saturday. Ramsey confidence low...

All this according to @darrenarsenal1
