Possession is as much a defensive tactic as an offensive one. The Gunners struggle when teams limit the space between the lines. They don't use width effectively enough.

Latest rumors link us with Marvin Martin and Andre Ayew. Seems more realistic than some of the others we have been linked to.

unrelated, but this is comforting: @IgnasiMiquel via Twitter “And for all the questions, I will not say I want to go back to barcelona when I am 24, I owe nothing to them.”

Too bad Ignasi Miguel is a *tad* less talented than Cesc.

Cesc going back to Barca at this point doesn't really make any sense, but then again, love rarely does.

that would be a great closing line in a write-up about him. you should write a freelance piece entirely centered on that sentence.

I was planning on writing an Almodovar-esque film about the whole saga, including, of course, an Ibra-Pique sex scene.

Of course Arsenal would officially announce it during a Barca match so their players couldn't instantly tweet about it.

I could also go another way with it and just rip off ¡Átame! (which I watched last night) and have it set in July 2010, post WC. Arsenal fan kidnaps Cesc and after awhile convinces Cesc to stay at Arsenal, then Cesc betrays him a year later.

Anybody else a little irked at Wenger saying there was a fear that Arsenal was becoming a feeder club? It was o Socceret.com Wouldn't you say that kind of falls on him or am I wrong here?

There really is no denying that's pretty much what we've been recently, though Wenger always had it timed perfectly whenever a star was let go. Cesc and Nasri are the first to leave before time besides Flamini that I can remember in recent years. If the rumors are true that Mata won't come to Arsenal because of our turmoil, that is a tad disconcerting, and something we need to correct.

I like the idea of building from within but it boggles my mind that he is so proud that he can't see what everybody else sees. I mean the sad thing is that this stagnation after such a great feat is starting to overshadow all the good he has done.

I'll also never be able to stomach Barca getting what they want with this Cesc thing. If the shoe was on the other foot they would be all in the media about how we stole their player. I hate Barca

It really isn't Barcelona's fault. That's just the way these things happen - a world class player wants to win silverware, and that's not happening at Arsenal. I understand the "homesick" thing, but that's not why he left; it probably accounts for 20% of why.

Well what gets me with barca is how the players tried to unsettle him every year. I dont fault the silverware issue but if we kept our stars and maybe added a few then we would win. Just wonder who the text teen is we will bring in...

Was just about to post that. Looks like Frimpong will be getting some big games under his belt.

Also, Nasri wasn't too happy with some anti-Nasri chants this weekend.

quote:

@Nanas08 I heard what the fans were singing about me on saturday and it is really disrespectful because i'm still a arsenal player

We could use some good news sometime soon.

Also, I'm going to watch the Arsenal Reserves play the ManU reserves today, assuming I can find a feed. The XI is: Mannone, Yennaris, Boateng, Miquel, Traore, Ozyakup, Ebecilio, Aneke, Watt, Afobe, Freeman. Could be fun.

I really don't see how what Barton did was any different than what Diaby did last season. I am confounded as to how he hasn't been charged.
