Merino is getting surgery. He’s going to be out a while.

quote:

Further to sustaining a foot injury towards the end of our game against Manchester United on January 25, subsequent assessments and specialist reviews have confirmed Mikel Merino has a bone injury in his right foot.

Mikel will have surgery in the coming days and will then begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme.

Mikel is expected to be out of action for an extended period, with the aim of returning to full training before the end of the season.

Interested to see if they'll utilize MLS in midfield any

Pretty bummed about Merino. He's a good player that helps a ton especially when we need a goal. Should be fine with Havertz and Eze tho. Jesus hitting good form helps too. That will allow Havertz to play a little deeper.

I would like us to switch it up and go 4-2-3-1 the rest of the season. Rice/Zubi double pivot that interchange who goes forward. Havertz at the 10/second striker

Maybe one to watch this summer. I'm not sure how I feel about Tonali considering his gambling and shite. Plus who goes in this scenario? Odegaard, Merino?

I think both might end up going. Replaced with Nwaneri & Tonali?

Merino will be 30 this summer & coming off a foot surgery. Unless they are keeping Merino & shipping out Norgaard

We were previously interested in Tonali so not a surprise.

I think these current links are just journos taking someone we were linked with and the injury to Merino and trying to get clicks.

Will probably be another big summer or will need to be.

Does Ben White stay? Jesus? Trossard? Is MLS good enough to play in the midfield? Do we try and get big money for Martinelli?

Bit of a purple patch for Martinelli lately, I personally wouldn't want to get rid of him, but does he want more playing time?

Saka out tonight & this weekend.

Targeting NLD for return, so basically out the entire month.

Should give Noni & Martinelli a lot of run over the next few games

What are the chances we ever do Odegaard on the RW and Eze at right 8. They can interchange and Havertz can wander over there too. Just a thought that probably won't happen but could be useful late in games with Odegaards quality to put in a good ball.

Maybe outside of Chelsea, I think Sunderland, Brentford away and Wigan in the FA Cup are all winnable games without Saka. shite I'm okay with him just making the bench against Spurs.

Kepa
Timber
Saliba
Gabriel
Hincapie
Eze
Zubi
Rice
Martinelli
Gyokeres
Madueke

Odegaard did not make the team.

Feels like we should have had 1 control guy in the front 3, oh well.

Also a weird lineup from Chelsea.

5 defenders, 2 DMs & No wingers.

Guess they're just going to try to turn this into a scrap

Arteta on Odegaard: "During the (Leeds) game, he felt a little niggle. We tried yesterday but he wasn't comfortable so let's see if he's available for the weekend hopefully."

Seems like a precaution.

So these frickers are genuinely going into a head injury rant when madueke was clearly fouled. Cucurella kicked his foot out from under him.

This is why ive been enjoying watching the league games in spanish.

I mean they're playing with 5 or 6 midfielders, this is just a slog.

I'd like to see Jesus come on at half. Need someone that can hold onto the ball in the front line

We might need to wait until spring time to see the best Eze. Haha.

Yeah Chelsea plan seems to just keep it close and try and nick a goal late. The only problem I have with this plan is they are lucky not to be down 1-0 rt now and then your plan is shite and you have to change it in the first half.
