Who is massively disrespecting Newcastle in this thread?

Bottom9’s post on 3/9:

Sesko would be an early July signing but Isak would probably be a mid to late August signing. We need Newcastle to miss out on the champions league. That would let Isak gtfo earlier and let's be real, Newcastle will need a miracle to make it.

Oh so you mean before you went on a 5 game win streak to actually get to 3rd?

At the time not getting to a top 4 spot (before we knew of the 5th spot) is not some massive disrespect for a squad.

Surely you don’t need us to tell you how good your team is?

it was a pretty big disrespect actually, even before this particular winning streak newcastle weren’t that far out and certainly didn’t need a miracle as has been proven to be obvious.

and not just here but Arsenal fans have acted fairly entitled about being able to sign Isak just because, which was never going to happen and still won’t whether we finish 2nd or 7th.

I mean you do realize you are still only those same 4 pts from being out of CL places?

Isak is a dream signing for almost any team, not sure how we are “entitled” to anything. Hes a favorite of Arteta, and the assumption was, if he’s available we’d love to get him, and would pay through the nose to do it. I don’t even really think I’d pay what NU would ask 150M, you could add 3 really good, or 2 great players for the same price. By rumors, seems like Gyorkores is the leading candidate, and I’d rather Etikite

You don’t have to take message board banter so seriously

Isak is staying at Newcastle if they CL qualification because the price tag will be 150. Arsenal could drop that, but I would much rather spread the money around since we need like 8 players this summer.

As it pertains to the 1st leg PSG game, I say you put Jorginho at the 6. Rice is coming into form perfectly at the moment in that 8 role and I don't think you mess with that. MLS plays that inverted role perfectly so he will be there to help.

Arteta gonna cook something up so we really don't need to worry with our master class tactician at the helm.

on mardi gras day i was wearing a Newcastle kit and some woman in her 60’s walked up to me on the street and immediately talked about how she was from London, is a massive Arsenal fan, and that she knows for a fact Isak is miserable at Newcastle and Arsenal would sign him for less than 100 million.

i laughed my arse off and am not going to get legitimately mad at some older lady, but let’s not act like Arsenal fan delusions as limited to message board banter either.

Fan is short for fanatic.

Any fan of a team thinks that they can sign any player, and that the player wants to join them

That was before the 5th spot was locked up too.

For the record, I don’t think we are signing Isak.

I think Arteta is an exceptional manager. But they all have their flaws.

Martinelli and Saka were already here.

Jesus he knew from city.

Merino and Havertz were more brought in to bolster the midfield.

I’m on a, I’ll believe we will sign a bunch of forwards when I see it.

And since Arteta joined our shot creation and goals went up every season until this season.

No one has matched Aubas 29 goals from Arteta’s first season when we were actually the worst statistically on offense out of the seasons he’s been here.

Don’t think it’s needed necessarily. We need folks that operate in small spaces and can maverick their way through low/mid blocks.

That’s the only thing missing with this team, you’ve got 3, maybe 5 world class players in Saka, Rice, Saliba (maybe Gabriel & Timber) but only 1 of those guys is a proficient 1 v 1 guy. We need other guys that can do things to cause defenses to over correct and open other spaces. Ode doesn’t haven’t, Martinelli rarely does, Havertz sometimes does, Jesus did before the WC injury in 2022.

Guys like Cala & MLS have it in spurts, one is 18 and the other is injured.

Just more of that can get this team over the edge for PL

Notes from Artetas presser today:

Cala not ready for Ipswich, will likely be back for 1 SF leg

Unsure of Jorginho availability for SF

Havertz won’t be back for PSG, but he’s betting he comes back sooner than later.

Interesting reading on Odegaards ankle:

Speculation that he’ll need surgery and be out till around Christmas next year. Would explain the massive fall off in ball striking/progressive passing we’ve seen in the past

That’s why I’m saying we aren’t going to spend all the money on isak. We’ve been better with out relying on one main goal scorer.

We will buy one of sesko or gyokeres.

And spend money in other areas of the team.
