Not sure we can afford to play Partey against Madrid, he’ll be a net negative with the way they play in transition.
May be worth getting Zinny in there at the left 8 spot and play rice at the 6

At one point, half of Arsenal’s outfield was made up of players who’ve played most of their football at left-back – Jakub Kiwior, Riccardo Calafiori, Kieran Tierney, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Zinchenko.
Haha
Hey we won 9-3.
And didn’t realize sterling misses the 1st leg with that yellow.

Glad Saliba got rest, feels like he’s played like every game again.
Wish Gabriel would have gotten some as well

We can't play Jorginho there. And has Zinny ever played any other spot other than the inverted fullback for us? Without Partey, our ability to play between the lines is severely affected.

I don’t know a good answer. Zinny just played as an 8 for us yesterday, 3 more opportunities before Madrid.
I don’t see Madrid parking the bus on us, but they might (may not need the line breaking passes from Partey).
I’m just brainstorming here, I don’t necessarily think NOT playing Partey is the right move, it’s a clear weakness for us, he’s also a horrible in the box marker, and with Madrid’s cutbacks could be a real problem.
I envision folks just running right past him on a counter and leaving Gabriel & Saliba in lots of tough spots. Or allowing a Jude to skate past him in the box for a cutback goal

Also, I think I want Hugo Etikite over Sesko.
Hes the closest thing to Isak out there and probably costs half or less as much

EXCLUSIVE by @JacobsBen: Andrea Berta is keen to sign Bruno Guimarães, along with Martin Zubimendi. Information confirms that Arsenal has £300m for the next transfer window. Bruno has a verbal agreement to leave for £70m if Newcastle don’t reach the UCL.
This seems wild

We need a piece of shite like Bruno on the team IMO.
Stash talent and pound next year. This year shows us that the more the better. Look how awesome our LBs, CBs, and RBs are and despite the many injuries, we were properly covered

We went too far in one direction: duels & physicallity, it works vs the big teams, and we can’t score against teams that can do the same thing as us.
My dream window: Nico Williams, Ekitike, a DM, and another creative AM. Gives you tons of variability
We need options, we can only play 1 way

Would be ideal.
Watched Zubimendi vs United yesterday, not impressed. Casemiro ran past him at one point, rather spend that money elsewhere.
Hopefully Berta has some other ideas

Ideally with Saka, he gets a couple cameos in the Fulham & Everton games, then maybe a half in the first Madrid game, then maybe a start in the 2nd if he’s progressing well

We need far more mercurial, technical midgets who are wizards on the ball. Arteta is so structured in his approach, although this season we've been slightly more free-flowing in attack. I really wish we could bring back some of Wenger's interplay in the final third but combine it with Arteta's defensive discipline.
That has to be the next phase of our development. Giving MO8 more freedom to combine with other players will lead to good things, especially because we have two world-class players in Saka and MO8 that love the inside-left channel while we have another potential superstar in Nwaneri who also loves that space. Making room for all of them requires more tactical flexibility than Arteta seems to like.

Arteta on Saka: “He’s going to be here next week. Hopefully with the ball with his feet”. “That will mean he’s shooting and running. He’s done quite a lot already on the pitch. The next is to integrate more competitive training and see how he copes”.
I’d guess that he’ll get a small run in the Fulham game after the break, but more against Everton and maybe start vs Madrid at this point

City draws, a win tomorrow puts us 10 points clear of 5th
Posted on 3/15/25 at 2:51 pm to bluebarracuda
I’ve seen rumors that we’re (PL) is getting a 5th CL slot because of coefficients
So looking like 5th would get in as well
