Looks like Merino and Arsenal have come to personal terms. Only a matter of time it appears.

So are we riding with jorgi to play alongside Rice?

Guessing that Rice will play the 8 when Jorgy or Partey are at 6, when Rice plays the 6 Merino probably plays the 8

Good preseason so far. Martinelli looked good tonight in his short appearance.

Indeed.

The hale end youngsters looking promising too.

Nwaneri supposed to get some first team minutes this year, had an assist tonight

Miles Lewis-Skelly had one too

Tonight showed the difference between a club that has progressed to an elite level while the other is stuck in mediocrity.

ESR deal seems eminent. They didn’t dress him tonight.

Nketiah & Reiss are supposed to be sold too.

Probably 50% chance Partey goes as well

I’d like to keep Partey for depth and athleticism. Smith Rowe and Eddie don’t have a shot at being regulars now. For their sakes and careers they need to move. It’s sad, but true. It’s a brutal business.

I think Partey might be washed

I know they want to play rice at 8 but he’s probably the 2nd best DM in the world to Rodri and Jorginho can spell him occasionaly or pair with him when rice plays upfield

So after watching the first 2 preseason games; Jesus looks slimmed down and was moving really well. Hope he can stay fit this season.
Ethan Nwaneri is the real deal. I expect a decent amount of first team minutes this season. Lewis-Skelly and Salah M’hand were both solid but wouldn’t be surprised if both were loaned out this season.
Looks like Mikel Merino may be joining the squad, who is a solid, experienced midfielder. Beyond that, we will need to sell some players before any new additions can come in.

Hate to see Smith-Rowe go. He either couldn't stay healthy or Arteta would never give him a run out. I'll be rooting for him when he's not playing against Arsenal.

RIP "Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe" chant.

Does anyone think we see Timber in midfield some this year?

Think playing the 6 or switching to a double pivot? I think him and Calafiori provide excellent depth in the CB position so we don't have to rely on Gabriel and Rolls Royce so much, or he goes to RB and White can play inside. If they want to change to a double pivot, I could see Timber stepping into that space. He has some great clips from Ajax carrying and playing through the middle. It may be a little early given the injury, but I'm all in on Timber and have big expectations for him.

Either, really. We also have Tomi who can cover RB/LB/CB. I just feel as if the defensive depth gives Arteta a chance to see Timber in midfield at some point.

looks like ESR deal is done. £27M + £7M add ons

Not bad for a guy that has played less than 1000 min the last 2 years.

ESR being our joint-top ever record signing financially is kind of comical. Really shows how bad we were at keeping and selling talent from 2007 onward.

ESR, Nketiah, Ramsdale, and Nelson could generate a good bit of cash if we get rid of all of them. Excited to see how the rest of the transfer window pans out.
