Its truly amazing how much this twam changed once Arteta decided to finally put ESR out there. Club has needed an AM for so long.

It has made the attack and defense better. Perhaps good things coming soon. Just need to keep plugging and creep up the table.

I think we all believed he is too good to stay down forever, but it is really great to see him back in form + Thierny just rocks! Good win.

first time since 2009 arsenal has recorded 5 straight clean sheets

ESR has been the difference maker, kid is everywhere

going to need as many points against these bottom clubs as possible if they are going to make a run...next 7 look to be brutal

By the summer Arsenal will have let go Sanchez, Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla, Wilshere, Sokratis, Mustafi, Mkhitaryan and Welbeck in the past three years

Money spent on fees: £190m
Money received: £0

So hard to build and maintain a competitive squad when business is done like this, especially when you have an owner who doesn't put his own money in.

You have to get buying and selling right, Arsenal get it wrong so often. So much money wasted.

Key move for #AFC. The mission was to sell/loan out Özil, Sokratis, Saliba, Kolasinac. Now it’s time to sign the new midfielder [re Buendia: one of the options, no official bid yet].

As far as the current roster the only dead weight left is Mustafi?

They have to decide what to do with AMN, Nelson, Willock, and Nketiah. Is their future still with the club?

Obviously upgrade over Runnarson.

Do they try and move Bellerin for some value?

What will they do with Balogun?

Club feels in better shape now, but there is definitely a lack of quality depth. Sucks they are inept at doing business and keep digging the hole deeper with losing more and more money, and taking on somewhat useless players.

As well as David Luiz, Elneny, and Willian, in my opinion. Willian isn't going anywhere though and David Luiz's contract is up this summer. I wouldn't doubt if they bring him back for another year for "experience". Kolasinac and Elneny both have 1 year remaining on their contracts, so I expect them to be sold. Torreira and Guendouzi could also be sold in the summertime when they return from loan.

I would assume one or two of the younger players get sold to give them an opportunity and generate some funds. They will definitely go for a #2 GK, as it's been reported they view Runnarson as third choice. I don't think they get rid of Bellerin, unless he tries to force a move. Balogun is all but gone, in my book. I don't see a way for him to get consistent playing time unless Arsenal move on from Lacazette in the summer. Balogun would need to know that direction from the club, without signing a precontract, in January and I don't see that happening. He could end up haunting Arsenal like Gnabry did.

Overall, they have been getting rid of most of the dead weight and trending in the right direction. Should be an interesting summer. Hopefully they can continue their current run of form and make up some ground for a Europa spot. They definitely won't finish top 4.

Martin Odegaard a player Arsenal like a lot & a loan from Real Madrid would ease creativity burden on Smith-Rowe. As @skysportspaulg revealed #AFC have made an approach for the 22yo Norwegian but they’re not alone. With @gunnerblog for @TheAthleticUK #RMFC

True. I didn't mention Willian, because they only just brought him in. No way they got rid of him this soon. He is in the category I mentioned ad useless players. Some more of the poor business deals Arsenal have been involved in. I still cant believe they paid as much as they did for Luiz and set themselves in such a poor position with central defenders they have had to rely on him. Elneny enough said, I think almost anyone would be an upgrade.

Apparently since he isn't playing at Atletico he is unhappy and Edu will talk to him about his future.

As for the young Madrid player they might take on loan, I would like to get a more proven AM seeing as ESR and that kid would both be so damn young and your only AM's on the roster.

Well this is false.

And looks like we got a keeper on loan and will get odegaard on loan.

And I do not consider Elneny dead weight, there are several other players I'd get rid of before him, but with these contracts coming close to the end we've got to extract something for players like him and laca.

Arsenal picked up GK Maty Ryan from Brighton on loan. It also looks like Odegaard has picked Arsenal, so hopefully that gets done soon. Seems to be just a regular loan with no option to buy. Runnarson will probably go on loan.

Refresh my memory on Odegaard? I remember hearing about him being the Scandinavian Messi a few years ago and honestly had no clue he was at RM. I'm assuming he's just gotten lost in the shuffle like a bunch of other guys at a club like that but still only 22? Is he a ESR clone from a position standpoint?

Out of curiosity, who would you get rid of in the midfield before Elneny? He's a decent bench player, but he's not good enough for Arsenal. We know what he is, so why not give the youngsters like Willock and AMN more time in the middle to progress and see if how they do. If there was any year to play a lot of youngsters and evaluate, it's definitely now.

I'm curious how Arteta will rebuild the midfield in the summer. Elneny expires in summer 2022, so you have to sell him this summer or give him a new contract, which I wouldn't like. Xhaka runs til 2023, so I'd assume he sticks around. Then of course you have Partey. The Ceballos loan is up in the summer, so you can try to buy him from Madrid, or try for another loan. I'm on the fence about bringing him permanently. Sometimes he looks great, others he just looks like a passenger. After that, you have Willock and you could promote Azeez to first team, but they haven't had much first team experience game wise.

I never want to get knocked out of a tournament, especially the FA Cup.

I believe he was crowned as the next best thing when he was pretty young. Signed with Real Madrid and I guess he just progressed slower than people thought. I don't know much about his playing style, but I've read he can play the 8 with ESR or relieve ESR in the 10 spot to give him a rest.
