tor-kristian karlsen (scout, former DOF at Monaco) says he thinks ospina will beat out szczesny. i'm all for the competition.

and damn, our german contingent is getting back even later than i thought. we could really use them back vs Everton on Aug. 23.

i'll be interested to see what youngsters get to go to the US. not too many open spots.

I bet they will play by the 23rd. They could even play against Palace.

Have we had official confirmation that we've signed a new fitness coach?

nope. no confirmation.

i seriously doubt they'll play 5 days after they get back. would think they'll be back on the 23rd but not really fully match fit.

we've also got the mid-week CL tie. wooooo.

They won't have a full preseason but I bet Ozil or Podolski could feature in the second half. We should have enough players to compete until the 1st of September, by which point they should be back. It might be a tough year for the Germans. Good thing we are deep this year, offensively.

yeah we need to baby ozil, especially, early on in the season. not worried about poldi. his play will be sporadic anyways. luckily, santi's a pretty damn good backup no. 10 to have.

We need to baby all our players who are runners. Last year it seemed everyone who made off the ball runs got hurt, except for Giroud. Hopefully Ox, Ramsey, Sanchez, and Walcott won't all be hurt at the same time.

I can't imagine why he wouldn't ... I do not believe he is hurt (he played last game for NYRB)

With the German contingent not reporting until possibly mid-August, do y'all think our chances at a CL run will take a hit or do we have enough depth to get through the first couple of CL matches?

We will win the qualifying play off. No worries.

We will be in the first pot and need to win the group to avoid Real, Bayern and Barca.

Based on the potential opponents I posted on the previous page, I don't envision an issue with the playoff round. Replacing Mertesacker will probably be the biggest issue. Santi or Rosicky can fill in for Özil and Podolski doesn't usually start.

Perhaps. My son had surgery today and I might have to play nurse on Saturday. He is a huge Arsenal fan so we will watch if I am called to that duty. If not, yeppers.

Prayers for a quick recovery!

I cannot wait for this match. Henry is the reason I started following Arsenal and is my favorite player. When he left I realized that a club is bigger than any one player because my love for the team continued to grown even with him gone.
