Just finished the DVR - great game by the Gunners!

Near the end, I was thinking about which EPL teams have a comparable skill level to Fenerbache - West Brom? Fulham? Am I giving them too much credit?

Whichever teams hunker down on defense, have a weak midfield, and no real threat up top is the BPL equivalent. Fener were not really a test at all.

I hope you are correct Glass. What will they be DM and what, a Striker? Could maybe still do with CB depth as well.

Not very, but we are getting extremely late in the window and Bender would be a GREAT buy. We have the cash. Make a big offer, Arsene.

I think 30mm pounds gets him. It is a position of real need, we can't be penny pinching.

Sow actually is a pretty good striker. they were pretty awful today though.

i don't think we can land Bender. Leverkusen won't sell. we came at them earlier this summer with an offer and were rebuffed strongly.

Probably not. We have as much straight CASH on the books as the rest of the BPL. Offered 19mm, make it 35mm.

jack is one big conundrum. he's so good in the middle third, but he's not disciplined defensively, and not particularly creative enough to be an impact in the final third. he and rambo still aren't a great pairing at this point because both love to get forward too much. if they ever got on the same page (or if Wenger ever told one of them to stay further back primarily), they could potentially be a very good combo. as it stands though, they leave us vulnerable. being able to rotate them in MF alongside a DM would be nice.

I really really really want to see Jack and Aaron pair in the 4-1-4-1 with a DM behind them, but who knows if that happens. I kinda wanted to see Frimpong. He's a destroyer that we need with none of the ability to pass, but I wouldn't mind him in the game to kill teams off. He was as promising as Wilshere when he came through, and is really a specimen physically. He's probably on his way out though.

we made a first offer and were told there was no chance...i'm tired of pursuing players we'll never land.

yeah, he had posted that goodbye message on IG earlier this summer. he's just a warm body, plain and simple.

With two good knees he's a first teamer. He was super unlucky. We were also super unlucky in that we chose the wrong DMs in the Coquelin/Frimpong/Nordveldt trio.

Absolutely. and yeah, didn't mean to be terse. was a promising prospect. injuries unfortunate. just clear by the fact he didn't get PT today that he was solely on the bench because he had a pulse and two working legs.

I wouldn't mind him to play against Fener in the return leg. He's a good player who is very different from who we have currently.

i think he should play in the return leg because i don't want any of our players who will contribute this year to get hurt. i don't see the point in anything more than that. i don't think he's particularly good personally and our staff has already set down their verdict on him.

Arsenal board thoughts on if our summer ended with Benzema, Di Maria, Cabaye, a GK and a defender?

personally, i'd be quite pleased, though a defensive minded midfielder would be nice to have. not sure Cabaye is the offensive type we need, but i do like him as a player. kinda Arteta-esque in that he should be playing in the CL.

How could you not be pleased? That's a complete 180 from our situation right now.

ETA: We need DM and CB cover, though.

Just watched our match today...

Aaron, if you check this, I have something for you

ETA: why is everyone trying to make us bleed? Are they taking advantage of our lack of depth?

Defender yes
GK yes

Benzema is a capable striker since we do need help up top scoring goals. We need a striker with movement as well, while I like Giroud's ability to play with his back to the goal and hold up the ball there is a problem whenever we force the ball out wide, which is frequent, we never have someone to make a run first post or back track to hit a squared up or pulled back pass. It's always an aerial cross.

Di Maria is a dangerous player who loves to go up and attack, and also not settle for only shots inside the box. If he can play wing in our system then great since we really only have Walcott and Ox, since Poldi isn't cutting it and Santi plays central.

Cabaye while a solid player I don't know how he fits in with us, considering who we already have on the roster.
