gotta say, fairly impressed by our youngsters. especially attacking. we dominated the first half and didn't back down even down to 10 men. scoreline definitely flattered them.

our defense needs some work though. pleguezuelo has promise and bellerin is pretty good at RB, but the LB and other CB were very sketchy defensively.

zelalem and olsson were a bit like rambo/jack pairing. decent understanding of when to attack, when to stay and defend, but also got caught out quite a bit.

akpom is really good. i like him a lot. maitland-niles is a promising prospect as well. jon toral played well as well.

Hey, as long as he can give us that one game a season where we usually go , damn that dude could be good if he stayed healthy, Im all for it. If nothing else just in case there are any more injuries or set backs to players in the midfield.

He really is a great talent. One or two matches could make a difference. If we some how get three points on Saturday, he could be massive in the title chase.

Diaby Destroys Liverpool
One of the most impressive performances I've seen from an Arsenal player.

It really is a shame. He could have been a great one.

Rambo's new deal puts him in the 100+k/wk club with Theo and özil. we're trying to lock up koscielny too.

the word is AW will have £100m to spend.

Great news. Being competitive on the wage front is a huge deal.

though i agree with crazy's previous thoughts about needing/wanting a handful of players in the summer, if we get a top, top striker and a top, top DM, we'll be big time contenders in every competition.

szcz
RB?-Per-Kos-Gibbs
DM-Rambo
Theo-Ozil-Santi
Striker

would be a salty top XI.

i am sad that it sure seems like Baccy will be elsewhere next season. hope we can bring in a top notch replacement.

I would hit it with the force of a thousand Podolski strikes.

So what is the XI you would like to see next year?

Sagna seems likely to leave and Aurier could be a capable replacement in time but he would likely be thrown to the wolves at first. Still, better option than Jenks imo. Balotelli seems like a reasonably priced striker that could push Arsenal to the next level. It would be interesting to see how he acts at a club where he is fully embraced and under the tutelage of a manager like Wenger. If the £100 million war chest exists maybe go crazy and purchase a Bender to replace an aging Arteta and a winger as well. Vermaelen is likely gone and possibly Podolski, a CB and winger would be needed then. Take in a GK on loan or convince Fab to stay by some miracle.

That would be a miraculous window, not very Arsenal-like and address major needs. Something to keep in mind with all this money and if it does actually get spent is way too much turnover. Arsenal have benefitted from stability and have a great dynamic in the locker room. A lot of turnover and the loss of Poldi could take away Arsenal's gel.

Nah, I would prefer CRon on the left and Messi up top.

Just going to leave this here ...

Am I crazy for being worried that Manchester United might actually make a run and win the Champions League. Surely they will not, right?

If that were to happen 3rd place in the league is a minimum for qualifying for the Champions League ourselves next season.

I will be curious to see who they draw in the next round when the draw takes place on Friday. If they draw Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain, then I think it's game over. But if they were to draw a relatively inexperienced Atletico Madrid or a struggling Börussia Dortmund, then I could see them possibly getting to the semifinals!

Someone please tell me I'm ridiculous for even entertaining this idea.

P.S. I'm actually someone who would love for Wenger to get Balotelli in the summer. On his day, he is top-class. Scores goals from absolutely nothing and is a threat anywhere inside of 30 yards like all top-line strikers should be. The attitude is something that would be an issue, but Wenger is someone who is universally respected in the game and manages the players very well, in my opinion. If anybody could get the best out of Balotelli from a man-management standpoint, I truly believe Wenger could.

I don't really see any way Man U can make that kind of run. They're no better than the 7th best team and the gap between them and the top 4 remaining is huge. They would need Real/Bayern to be drawn and PSG/Barca to be drawn as well.

People will draw comparisons to that Chelsea run but they benefitted from a pretty weak final 8. APOEL, Benfica, Marseille and a Milan at the beginning of their crisis comprised half the field. Real and Bayern's team this year are way better than any teams that year too imo. Chelsea also parked the bus spectacularly but I doubt Moyes would do so. If they draw Dortmund (who are getting healthier and hot) and win the first leg AND Arsenal implode in the league then we should be nervous.

As for Balotelli, I think he would like to get away from the racism and an imploding club. I haven't really followed Milan much but is there talk of a fire sale yet? I know there won't be much to sell off really but they are really falling upon some rough times. €30 million for problem child, Balotelli could benefit both parties. He has a huge upside and an extreme basement too.

we've been linked with Sebastian Jung at RB too. not sure who we'll get to replace sagna though.

I'd probably lean toward "no" re: super Mario, but then again, there aren't a whole lot of options out there.

draxler would've been nice but the scuttlebutt coming out of Germany recently is that we gave up hope when Bayern got involved.

There aren't many options out there unfortunately and prices are so over-inflated for strikers.

Remy may be reasonable, but is it a huge upgrade?
Dzeko is on huge wages
Draxler race no longer is a one horse race and even then he won't turn into a great CF overnight
Mandzukic is incredibly underwhelming and is a bit of the same player as Giroud, he will also cost a ton most likely and he was incredibly unimpressive against Arsenal
Balo is a nutcase and you never know what you get
Kruse is not a bad option potentially but has cooled down after a hot start
Batshuayi is turning heads but he's still incredibly raw and wouldn't be an immediate upgrade over Giroud

Not a whole lot out there...

i think Mandzukic would be an upgrade over Giroud.

Jackson Martinez is another name out there we may target. Costa too.

financially, we can afford to be in the bidding for any top striker on the market this season (including cavani or falcao, though i doubt the rumors of their availability). we need someone besides Giroud, who clearly isn't good enough. i'd take Remy because his pace would be extremely useful up top.

we've cultivated a very positive dressing room environment, so balotelli would concern me there. and on the pitch, he would be a liability cards-wise. still, super talented and could be a huge improvement over Giroud.

i think it's important to up our goalscoring out wide too. someone like draxler, griezmann, or pedro would be a good addition there.
