If we have replacements for Mertesacker, Santos, and Ramsey in the game we win it going away. So basically if Arteta and Gibbs are healthy and Koscielny had his confidence back

I'm confused about Mertesacker... early this season he was our best CB.

To be a top flight club you need capable backups though, which Arsenal haven't had forever now. The cupboard has been dry for years.

We had Squilaci as our backup CB who was unbelievably bad, we got Mertesacker to replace him who is definitely better. Wenger needs to find someone to replace Santos.

We have Diaby/Coquelin/Ramsey who Wenger could play at DM, just none of them really work.

It's disappointing to see Podolski, Giroud, Walcott continue to show up and play well on offense only to have that good play canceled out by such mediocre play from those in our back 5.

The Podolski, Walcott, Cazorla, Wilshere, Giroud attacking quintet is really starting to blossom. The problem is behind them.

Arsene's tactics were puzzling. Arsenal could have won that match by 3 goals with better tactics.

Oh and I'm sorry Santos had to make an appearance. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

Jesus Christ arsene Gibbs is too injury prone to not sign another left back. We'd almost be better playing podolski at LB

Babytown frolics. We need a major overhaul of our back 4 in the summer. Or at least a couple of new faces. And a GK.

Really frustrating draw. We dominated (though Liverpool definitely had goals in them). On one hand, 'Pool probably should have scored more, but the two goals we gave up were just so unbelievably stupid. God, I hope this team can somehow sneak into 4th. At least our schedule is fairly favorable from here on out.

Also, Bayern will very, very likely rape and pillage us. Our back line blows way too much.

This and the injuries on the edges are what kills us.

I honestly think a commanding keeper would have our back line performing a lot better (i.e. Howard yelling at them type) and then obviously we need a better backup than Santos to cover for our ever injured Gibbs. Not to mention he (mystery signing, not implying Howard, was just using his name for the yelling example) would probably be better in the air than Scezc.

Liverpools offense didn't look much better in the sequence too, which makes us look even worse

Might end up better anyway. This team isn't winning the UCL. Might as well be able to focus on qualifying for next year and trying to win the FA Cup.

With the injury to Kieran Gibbs against Liverpool on Wednesday and Arsene Wenger's reluctance to use an increasingly shaky Andre Santos, a new left-sided defender quickly become the priority in the past 24 hours. But this isn't a panic purchase, despite the need for speed this week. There was a deal in principle for Monreal to arrive at the Emirates this summer, and he has already been taking English lessons in anticipation of the move. Gibbs' injury simply pushed things along.

The 26-year-old Monreal will fit seamlessly at Arsenal. He has an elegant blend of being a tough tackler and a technically gifted player on the ball. His positioning is excellent, while his decision-making has placed him firmly on the radar of Spain's "big two" for a number of years.

Gibbs is out at least 4-6 weeks. Maybe 8 according to Wenger. He may never get his job back.

arteta is back in the squad this weekend. Tv5 is a doubt.

Also some rumors we tried to sign Etienne Capoue late. Wenger said we were close on another but the team didn't want to sell and that it wasn't a money thing. I'd imagine that he was talking about Villa and Barca.

1) this thread needed to be bumped

2) I'm going to the Arsenal-Everton game in a month. Any tips on what I should do while at the Emirates? I lived in London for a period but never made it there for a match (I was a poor grad student). I'm really excited.

3) Wilshire looked pretty good today.
