Well, that is understandable considering it is one game. But consider how City won the EPL last year. It basically came down to a championship game. I would imagine that is the only thing comparable to the one game ectasy of the UCL final. I understand the arguments for both sides, but I think because the two leagues are so different, it is hard to compare.
I think my questions in regards to Chelsea and City in my last post explain why I currently have my opinion. Like you said, it could change after a UCL win, but I don't know if that will ever happen.

Your opinion sounds along the lines of SEC>National Title, especially in sports like basketball and baseball.

The fact that those situations happen in the same year makes them different. Because of that, a team like Kentucky won't waste their time with the SEC Tournament because it doesn't benefit them to win it. It is ingrained in our country that the National Title is bigger. In European soccer, though, you won't ever see a team that has locked up top 4 coast the rest of the season. The domestic title is important and everyone knows it. I understand your point, but I really think the whole 2 separate years thing changes everything.

DT, the CL is the only thing Wenger hasn't won. So close in 2006, he wants it badly. Problem is the club won't and can't spend to attract the uber talents.

I was referring to regular season SEC as opposed to tourney. You think LSU had more fun winning the SEC or Bama winning the National Title?

Going by the rants meltdown, you would have thought we went 0-13

It's just hard for me to understand why someone would rather be king of England for a year over king of Europe.

I think that is an invalid analogy to make, personally. I would be thrilled with either, though I do think psychologically, as a fan and player, it'd be more enjoyable to win the CL, I don't think it's "better."
I also strongly disagree that Arsenal aren't in the tier of clubs that can win the CL. I think our track record over the past few years definitely puts us in that tier.

Arsenal, despite the recent run of matches, should make it to the knock outs again. What is that like 13 or 14 years straight?

I was using that analogy because the other poster said that the EPL format gave a more true champion than the UCL....which I agree with, but still that is no difference than the analogy. An SEC champion LSU was a true championship, but LSU fans would rather have had the National Title.
ETA:It's just like the NBA, NFL and MLB....hell even NHL. Which would the fans rather have? The regular seson"more true" championship or win the playoffs?

Nah, Arsenal are in Tier 2 of the CL. What "recent track record"? When was the last time Arsenal even made the semis? 5 years ago? shite Liverpool have made the semis 3 times in the past 10 years and they haven't even been in the CL for the past 2 seasons.
3 clubs in England have made the finals more times than Arsenal in the past 10 years.

I think it's been less than 5 year but I agree with your post. Arsenal has been remarkably consistent, they are certainly not in the top tier these days though.

You're right. It's been 4 seasons. I still don't know what recent success is being referred to. fricking Tiny Tots have made it to the quarterfinals more recently than Arsenal.
Wenger is great at getting past the groups, and average beyond that.

We get the fricking shittiest draws in knockout

We should have beat AC Milan methinks.

You get the easiest draws in the groups. It's only fair.

This is true. And we struggle in those groups for the most part.

We usually run into better teams. We might have been better than Liverpool in 2008, though those Benetiz Liverpool teams were built for Europe. We probably should have beat PSV in 2006.
Before 2005, we were really poor in Europe. Our form there improved after we moved away from the direct style of the early Wenger era. We just don't have the players nor do we have a cohesive style anymore. We don't defend as a team, nor do we attack as a team.
It's frustrating to watch, but hopefully we will figure it out.

We get easier groups than ManU?
Last year when we drew Milan I was relieved, finally no Barca, but we squandered that chance.

Past 10 Champions Leagues, unquestionably Barca, Milan, 'Pool, Chelsea, Manchester United have had more success than us. I have no problem saying those guys are in a tier above us success-wise. We're definitely in the second-tier success-wise. Most of those years, particularly earlier in that time period, we were competing for EPL titles with those 3 EPL clubs. We were as good as many of those teams. Hell, we were better than Chelsea last year. I just think any of those top 2-4 teams in the big leagues, particularly those who have been in that position for the long haul, are capable of winning in any given year.
I'm also still very bitter about the Henry miss, Babel dive, RvP red, Milan pitch, etc. etc.
