Y'all are way over-analyzing this. It wasn't supposed to be funny. The reporters just asked him if anyone in Germany had talked to him about the US team. That was his response. I don't think he was trying to be funny. Not sure why Broski started the thread saying TC has jokes. Probably because the headline on the SBI article had something about Dempsey being funny with the reporters and also had what TC said bundled in the same article.
Or because the writing in the SBI article was retarded. What Clint said though was legitimately funny.

Just read this article on SBI and the quote at the end caught my eye.
