national team performance, domestic league performance, continental competition performance
How fluid would that be though?
Seems like the representation would have to be based on those results for a long period of time.

Do it similar to the FIFA rankings.

Which ranking system? They changed it two days ago to elo.

Doesn't matter. I think it still takes something like the last 3-4 years into account.

I’d say making friendlies meaningless and losing in knockout rounds not count against you is pretty meaningful, but okay....

I'd be cool with this if the rankings weren't corrupt.

I don't think you understood what I was talking about. The FIFA rankings use a period of 3 or 4 years.

Come on, people. Follow the thread. I never said "use the FIFA rankings."

Don’t like the four year results like count for 1/12th if the ranking or something though? I thought recent results counted the most?

You're mostly correct, but all I said was "similar to". Feel free to tweak it to your liking.

Not sure I would say corrupt. It's a mathematical formula. Flawed? Sure, but not corrupt.

I'm just saying that there could be multiple metrics before we resort to population.

It can be manipulated, and countries like Poland, Wales, and Romania have done just that to seed in a higher pot. The change to Elo is a big deal and frankly I’m shocked it hasn’t garnered more discussion here.

Probably because the only time the ranking really matter are for the WC.

Looking at the latest update to the vote tracker from the previous page, we are halfway to the # of votes we need if the people leaning our way stick with us.
Apparently our territories won’t vote? Maybe a few votes off.

Apparently the French Federation chief says about half of Europe will vote for Morocco. If that’s the case, you can forget about us hosting.
Germany became the first European team to support us.

Andrew Das just put Australia and Jordan on our side.

I know this isn't new, but I wonder if Liberia's decision to support the US has anything to do with the fact that the president's son may be playing in it.
