And we probably are better with Tyler Adams, Yedlin, John Brooks & Bobby Wood out there...... goes both ways

Yeah, once Roldan came on, I thought he was going to move centrally to give us 3 in the midfield. I don't see the point of bringing him on and sticking him on the right. That was Jurgenesque to me and Berhalter's biggest mistake.

don't see any reason to take Jozy off that early.

Yeah once again, I figured with Zardes on we'd start pressing high but we kinda just stayed the same with worse players on. I guess it was fitness with Jozy

Mexico didn't have to do much in the 2nd half to limit Pulisic's effectiveness. We seemed content to do it for them.

100% agree. I am fine with him there in games against lesser competition where he can boss things, but against Mexico it seems like suicide no matter if this is their B team.

If he's going to play against Mexico, he needs to play with McKennie and Adams. I love Weston McKennie but his positioning was shite in the second half. He was too quick to take off IMO. Needed him to come pick up the ball deeper

Michael Bradley isn’t good enough to be the guy in a single pivot. In the 2nd half he was absolutely destroyed. Frankly, I’m not sure we have the talent any where in the system that can justify a 3 man midfield.

I know this sucks because we want to set Pulisec free but maybe we just need to reconsider the entire formation with some variation of a 4411 with Pulisec playing in that dropped back forward role.

I don’t know.

Edson Alvarez basically man marked him for most of the second half. That's why I was hoping Roldan would move inside and Pulisic to the wing where he would've had room to operate.

Their missing players have way more quality than ours

Yedlin has been shite of late

Boddy Wood doesn't even have a club and was mehhhhhhhhhhhh last year

Adams is the key

Herrera, Lozano, and corona also not in the squad. Mexico is pretty deep in the midfield and up front right now

Everybody wants Pulisic to play centrally because he's our best player but he should be out on the wing IMO. McKennie and Adams are going to be great, but I'd like to find a 6 to play with those guys.

agreed

he is way more dangerous out wide in his natural position

maybe in a few years when his ball distribution gets better you can play him centrally

and lets not forget his style of play tends to loose the ball a good amount if hes not on point

I know he plays more of an 8 or even 10 for club, but from what i saw of pomykal in the u-20 wc i think he could play a 6. Or you put Adams at 6 and him at the 8. I think he needs to be a part of this midfield going forward asap, and if it works then it frees you up to play pulisic on the wing.

He isn’t a six, but I would like to hope Pomykal comes good this go around. Would free Pulisic some from playing centrally if you have him to mix in with the other MF’s

In the modern game, the 10 is really not as important anymore. I'd love to have an athletic left back and Pulisic on the left. That way he can drift centrally and we can have the fullback create the width if he does.

I do like Pomykal. I also kind of like Russell Canouse from the few times I've seen him.

It would be nice to have another winger who could provide some creativity. Arriola seems a bit pedestrian, though I love his running.

I thought our shape was bizarre.

It seemed like a 4-4-2 at times with Pulisic and Altidore up top, but McKennie was playing higher than Bradley like he was an attacking mid to the right side and Bradley was playing like the lone central midfielder.

On our left side Arriola and Ream had little support from the central midfield. Once Pizarro started to roam a bit more, Mexico combined a lot down that flank.

Mexico was really stepping up hard any time we tried to play to the feet of Altidore or Pulisic. I think we should’ve brought in Roldan for Jozy and slotted him into a central 3. Let Morris play higher up and more centrally to try and get in behind.

Anyone Robinson was sent home after Gregg played him in a 3-5-2 and looked bad.
