This can't be the best 11 we have.

It's not. We had multiple starters injured, as well as multiple back ups injured.

If your son was good enough and say Bayern Munich or Real Madrid came to him with a check as well as offered your family a house and job for you in that city

Would you turn it down?

They can't exactly do that.

everyone plays more lucrative sports

Premier League players make $3.9 million a year while the average NFL player makes $2.7 million a season so that is false.

What's the number when you screen out the majority who can't afford select or academy ball? The overwhelming majority of players who end up on the USMNT come from affluent backgrounds for a reason.

I don't know how to do it (and the USSF certainly doesn't), but if we manage to open the spigot to as many possible at the youth level, we will end up where we should be as a footballing nation.

Until then the number is closer to 30 million, and they're softer compared to the grinders we play in international competition.

My son won’t give up high school sports for a chance to play for the US, much less leave the country for a shot. US kids just aren’t hungry enough...especially the ones who play soccer.

Seems like a sweeping generalization based on your one kid. I have a family member who left the US to pursue athletics and is now one of the top in their field. There are hungry people out there. European soccer academies have tons of Americans these days.

Says a lot, when Altidore is still considered one of our best forwards, it says a hell of a lot.
