It would be immensely stupid for him to play if this injury is in fact career threatening regardless of the fact that he would miss our game.

I do not buy it. I think Ronaldo will play regardless. I doubt he will be at 100%, which could be huge.

ETA: I may be wrong. That would be crazy. I really hope Ronaldo does not have that bad of an injury. It would be a shame to lose the best player in the world.

Agree with all of this. If true, i certainly hope he takes the time off and heals, but i would be shocked if he didnt play.

If he's out, then can we move Fab to wing?

BREAKING - Bruno Alves didn't train today due to injury. Note that Coentrão, Pepe and Almeida are already all out of USA clash. CR half fit.

I just saw "CR was wearing a knee brace on left knee while training" scroll across the bottom line on ESPN

Ronaldo will almost certainly play, but Coentrao being out really makes it much easier to deal with that left side. Double up on Ronaldo as much as possible, and you won't have to deal with Coentrao overlapping.

My guess is Alves is just getting a day off, and will play, but obviously that's not a really informed opinion.

probably. still helpful to know that another Portugal defender, though not absent, isn't quite 100%.
