After losing the opener, U-20 #USMNT needs 4 points to virtually guarantee the knockout stage; 3 pts could be enough. In 19 previous FIFA tournaments with this format, 92 teams had exactly 4 pts; 90 of them advanced (98%). 62 teams had exactly 3 pts; 29 advanced (47%).

Tsitaishvili is pretty good.

He’s already breaking into the Kyiv squad at 18.

Pomykal should not have a higher average position than Mendez. Paxton does a great job as the 8 for Dallas, and Mendez is a natural 10.

Pretty sure Pomykal plays as a 10 more often than Mendez. Pomykal also often plays on the wing.

Pomykal played on the wing and Mendez was the 10 for most of the concacaf championship

And that's what they did yesterday.

Yeah, and I would much prefer if Pomykal played the 8 with Weah on the wing and Soto up top.

I think they wanted to use to DMs to cover for Keita, which pushed Mendez to the 10 and Pomykal to the wing.

I think we were short on wingers for the CONCACAF championships, which is why we pushed both players forward again.

And this is when it's clear that these are teenagers. South African player just got a red card for kicking an Argentine player in the stomach.

Is Mexico's youths just this bad or did they not send a strong team?

They just aren't that good right now. Our U17s and U20s are ahead of Mexico's right now.

And we'll be even better when Ferreira gets his citizenship (4 goals, 1 assist in 8 starts for FC Dallas this year, very close to getting his citizenship, would have made our U20 team but he didn't get the paperwork in time, dad played for Colombia).
