What an absolutely ridiculous move by Chelsea. Lukaku has natural goal scoring instincts, and his build up play would improve the older he got. Lukaku has a chance of being the rare goal-scoring striker who can actually be involved in the build-up. He's not very good at it yet, and he has to realize that he has to defend from the front, but his upside is still so high that it's unbelievable to me that Chelsea would let Lukaku go for any price.

he won't be home grown eventually, will he? i think he missed out by 3 months (joined chelsea in august 2011, turned 21 in May 2014). if he was home grown, that might be a bargain compared to some of the other deals that have happened recently. still like the signing for everton.

Hoping Origi turns out as good... £10.5 will have been a bargain!

like crazy said, lukaku's goal scoring record already sets him apart from a lot of other strikers in that mold. he'll improve his link up play, especially under the tutelage of Roberto, and when he does, Chelsea will have to pull a Matic

origi has the other stuff. yet to be seen if he can get the goals. i like him though. hard worker.

Hes good but just don't see him being as physically dominating. We probably won't know for a few years anyway and who knows what will be going on by then.

I have no idea what Chelsea is doing, but let's all bow down to Roberto Martinez and everyone's new second-favorite EPL club. (Except for those who are primarily Everton fans.)

Roman needs to go on an exchange program to Madrid and learn what a buy-back clause is

Can't imagine any team agreeing to it, plus there is no tradition of it in the PL.

What Lukaku needs to work on is play with his back toward goal. He's actually not very good at it, as he seems to prefer to run onto the ball or receive the ball on the half-turn. It would be an utter waste if the most physically dominate striker since Drogba, at least on paper, would shy away from using his natural skills to bring others into the play. The problem with the target striking role is that it is thoroughly thankless, and for the most part, you're goal tallies won't be all that impressive since so much energy is expended on retaining the ball, winning fouls upfield, and harassing CB's.

Very few players have the natural physical ability of Lukaku as well as his eye for goal, especially at such a young age. If he can't add this to his game, he'll be a 6'3 poacher, which is still really useful.

Certainly not for a fee to make the clause worthwhile

He wanted to play for Chelsea but he wanted to be clearly the first choice striker, which in a club of our dimension, it is very difficult to promise to a player.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has claimed Romelu Lukaku "was not highly motivated" after selling the striker to Everton for 28 million pounds.
