read that 500 days of somma was not training but rehabbing today. was hoping he'd be recovered now but apparently he had a setback in the spring which required more surgery. almost a year since he went down.

also, aidy white trained with the squad today but warnock said he's still not sure what the future holds.

All of the players rumored for transfer practiced yesterday and today. I still think Macca and White are gone unless something falls through with Warnock's targets. This upcoming preseason may one of the more interesting we've had in years. MOT

rodolph austin, jamaican midfielder is a name that has popped up recently. looks like a strong centre mid. apparently stoke tried to sign him in 2008 but had work permit issues. 4 years on, im assuming he has tallied enough caps for jamaica that it would no longer be an issue.

also, martin cranie is training with the squad according to sky.

found this on austin from YEP

Warnock has confirmed his interest in bringing SK Brann player Austin, 27 – voted as the best player in the Norwegian premier division in 2011 – to Elland Road, having previously had him on trial at former club QPR in January of last year.

The combative defensive midfielder, capped 45 times by the Reggae Boyz, will be out of contract in December and has refused to sign a new deal, with Brann’s asking price believed to be between £200,000 and £300,000.

Austin saw a move to Stoke City in 2008 fall through due to work permit issues.

Warnock said: “He’s a player I had at QPR. I had him over for a week and he’s a smashing lad. I’ve always liked him, but it’s always been a bit too much money.

“The last time I spoke to them, it was around the £2m mark. But his contract runs out in December and he’s one that we are looking at as well as several others.”

and on ross-

He said: “There’s been three or four enquiries for Ross from clubs and they are all keen to sign him.

“I’m going to try and do what’s best for the club, but until something happens where I think the club benefits, at the moment Ross is training with us. And he understands the situation.”

quote:

Breaking: According to TV2 in Norway Leeds' bid of £200k for Austin has been placed - and rejected. New bid is expected. ?#LUFC

quote:

@svendleeds: My very best interpretation of that answer from the Brann director indicates Brann has named a price back to #LUFC - probably £400,000 max.

up it to 350k and it should go thru

We need a few more strikers. I saw where Andy Gray is training with the club but christ we had that bastard over fifteen years ago. He's got to be 35 by now. I spoke to a friend of mine this morning from Leeds and he said that the Beckford talk has died down. Like you said, Somma is far from being fit so we need some bodies up front. Everyone I have spoken to has conceded that Macca is gone. MOT

if gray is the best we can do right now, why not just keep paynter, hope he stays healthy and see if he can knick a few goals in a reserve role. btw, i've read he is close to joining preston. wouldn't mind gray on a short term deal.

bolton bid 200k for lonergan. de-fricking-nied.

we spent 300k on him last summer. so im thinking at least 250 will do the trick. reports out of norway say that money will go to securing austin.

Why would we take 250k for a keeper who is still worth the 300k we spent a year ago?

I say run it up to 350 and try and pull a small profit to recover some wages. But that's just me.

the deal for austin may not be completed until the end of july as his club have 3 games left and want to hang on to him for those matches.

have a feeling varney and possibly peltier should be done in the next couple days.

we have agreed a fee with brann for austin. now just have to wait for his season to end in about 3 weeks. varney, norris and peltier should be finalized this week (hopefully).

latest name we are linked with is andrew crofts, midfielder from norwich.

Lonners would have been fine between the pipes... he was screwed by a shaky backline last year. Paddy is solid, but I would have been fine rolling with Lonners (especially with an improved backline)

Also heard that he was looking to snag McCormack as well. He has a ton of money to spend but I still think Huddersfield is headed back down. Seems like he wants the players he had here.

Mackail-Smith kinda blew last year after his move from Peterbourgh, seems like another Billy Paytner with a better work rate. Don't like the deal at all really.

We definitely need a couple more midfielders and some fire power up front (if we lose Snoddy to Norwich and McCormack to where ever he lands if he does intend to leave).

yea, if it's a straight up swap it wouldn't be as good but IIRC they paid peterborough a good amount of money for him so they'd probably hesitate to throw in extra cash. unless they sent a mil or two plus mackail-smith on loan or something. i dunno.

saw our future reggae boy midfielder has been booked 5 times and sent of twice in 11 matches or something like that. the jamaican alan smith

I'd take Mackail + cash (also heard Croft is + cash for Snods as well). I just have a bad feeling that cash will not be applied to bringing in the right kind of players. Other than Pearce, I am not thrilled with any of our acquisitions to date.

Elland Road needs a little more attitude.

peltier's agent said leeds and huddersfield have both had 600k bids accepted.

some updates...

derby have made a 500k offer for aidy white.

200k fee for varney, could be done by friday

@EastStandUpper: Warnock on Snod: "Hoping to build team around him... but gets his head turned. Disappointing for me... when he's your best player."
@APOPEY: #lufc Warnock sounds resigned to losing Snodgrass and McCormack . Listening to him now he's admitted snoddy had head turned.
@EastStandUpper: Warnock on Ross: "Had 2/3 decent offers for Ross... but I don't want to let anybody go without replacements. Shouldn't have got like this."
@Thomkirwin: Warnock says 5 clubs interested in signing McCormack, says he has to have replacements lined up if any deal is done. #lufc
@APOPEY: #lufc Warnock says he never realised how big Leeds is. Says terms for McCormack should not hinder a move.
@APOPEY: #lufc Warnock says on takeover. "They are proper people and are doing it in the right way"
@EastStandUpper: Warnock on new owners: "From my end, you do need assurances... I wouldn't be here if I didn't think they were behind me. Had offers to go."
@APOPEY: #lufc Warnock says he would not be at club if fans hadn't been behind him. Says new owners want him to stay because its best for club.
@APOPEY: #lufc Warnock also said it should never have got to this stage when referring to top players like Snodgrass and McCormack on verge of going.

also a yewtewb video of austin 'saying goodbye' to brann. warnock said today he could play in the center of defence as well as midfield. sounds like a young radebe.

should never happen, and frick him if he wants to move to frickin' Derby County.

The more I think about this takeover the more I get worried. As bad as Bates is, sometimes the devil you know...

That is not to say that part of me isn't still super excited about a much needed cash injection, but as this process stretches out... I get less and less pumped for some reason.
