The European grind and having to earn your spot every day, is one of the consistent issues I keep seeing mentioned. This seems to be a glaring difrence between the US and Europe, the good players here find themselves in the line up regardless.
This echoes what Jermaine Jones said a month ago.

In MLS the players that find themselves in the lineup regardless are Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore. In Europe the players that find themselves in the lineup regardless are Ronaldo and Neymar.

A prodigy is Lionel Messi. Pulisic would just another player for Germany or France.
How many 19 year olds on France and Germany are better than Pulisic? There's only one, Kylian Mbappe. And he's gonna win the Ballon d'Or one day.

He wasn't even a regular starter
Yes he was. I’m talking about when Jurgen originally named him captain after the last WC. He was in his physical prime and the best player we had at the time.
I don’t remember the exact circumstances that led to Bradley being handed the armband, but I think it was a bad call. Everyone wanted Bradley to be something he’s not. And Bradley hasn’t been the same player the last few years.
If not Dempsey, the no brainer call in my eyes at the time was Tim Howard.

Deuce tearing up a refs scorebook in a US Open Cup match and subsequently getting a 6 match ban for club and country by the USSF.

He was not in his prime at 31, the arm band doesn't automatically go to the best player, and qualifying didn't begin until November 2015. He only played 2 games of our 1st round of qualifying. Then he missed 6 months due to a heart condition. So at which point when we were playing games that mattered should Dempsey have been captain?

Germany just won a major tournament with young players. Those countries have top young talent in lower divisions, etc. Who knew of Griezmann when he was 19?

And Griezmann was starting in LaLiga at 19.
