Well dumbass, since the deal would only be for PAST AID, rather than FUTURE aid, they may not get anything regardless. Would be stupid of them to sign off on that.

1st of all, you call names a lot... but why?
2nd of all... Past Aid is a debt owed, I imagine. Leaving debts unpaid surely won't curry favor with anyone that would be otherwise inclined to assist. They are out of optimum options, they need to figure out how to get out of thiis the best way possible- reneging on debt ain't the way to go.

I'll admit, I'm passionate about the topic since I know many Ukrainians, I agree I should chill on the name calling.
With that said, do you see anyone else demanding repayment from them for assistance against Russian aggression? I only see us, supposedly the richest country in the world demanding it. Those minerals are the only leverage to get more help they have, they won't waste it on a country who doesn't commit to continued help.
It's much smarter on their end to use those resources as a carrot for more assistance than worrying about being "noble" and paying "debts" in a fight for their countries continued existence.

Funny he thinks he has a choice. Trump is about to whip this puppy.

Fair enough.

Should they not? Honestly asking.

'Us' is made of taxpayers. I am not rich. My neighbor is not rich. My family is not rich. The USA is only 'rich' from the taxes it takes from us, mostly NOT rich people. I am not okay with the idea that 'we can afford it'.

Let them leverage. Without us.

He who does not wield a stick cannot keep his carrot.

It was known as the breadbasket of Europe and has tons of mineral and strategic resources.
Definitely not worthless

No, I don't think they should, I think that comes with being a world super power and so called "leader of the free world" and all the benefits those titles have brought us.

I'm also not rich, but I also realize that the reason we have so many weapons in the first place is Russia, and giving Ukraine old weapons isn't a waste since that is literally what they were made for. Not to mention we don't lose any soldiers while destroying a lot of Russian equipment :). As I said, most of the stuff we've given them is old, stuff that we would decommission before we got ourselves into another war.

I'm good with that, I only meant to say (before the passion came out) that they were smart not to take an offer where they sacrifice their economic future for no security agreements.

Ukraine was bombing their own Citizens in the east since 2014. They should have thought twice about that

Ukraine is a failed state. Without financial assistance including military assistance they would not exist. We can't afford to support them now or going forward

You’re kidding right? You think they were just randomly bombing random citizens for funsies?
Dude, if you did any actual research instead of just slurping up what Russia drip feeds you you’d know that a Russian national (Igor Strelkov, look him up) led “separatist” (made up of many actual Russians) with the support of Russia to take over the Donbas and expand as much as possible.
After all, those “separatists” didn’t get their tanks, artillery and SAMs (which they used to shoot down an airliner) from Ukraine.
As those “separatists” had all of their equipment (some of which they used to shoot down an airliner as mentioned above) in the two major cities of the Donbas region, I’m sure Ukraine sent in some artillery shells to destroy it when possible.
But to frame it as some bloodthirsty “lets kills our innocent citizens” action on Ukraines part is flat out insane.
You may say I’m biased, but I can definitely say I know more about this topic than you do.

In his defense I’ve never taken the first draft of any deal I was offered.
Unless it was better than I thought i could get. Even then I asked what was my time frame to consider it.
IMO he’s screwed politically no matter which way this goes, so he’s probably been looting the treasury for a while now for when he runs for it.

When announced, I stated that little bastard was up to something. No way he would (without solicitation) offer our country the mineral rights for back payment.

You admitted your bias when you said you get passionate about this because of your Ukrainian friends. You definitely don't know more about this topic than me. Whatever you do know is looked at through a bias lens and therefore is invalidated. I have no bias and therefore my mind is clear and able to rationally assess this situation
