Private property as a concept is a pretty universal idea. I think what you’re aiming at is interesting. But there’s more at stake here than owning a home being a construct of modern marketing.

So you believe in God?

If so, you are still confused. The right is referred to as “God given” as a way of describing the limit on Government and as being absolute.

Is it an assumption that the US should continue building new houses forever?

No, but the inventory of reasonable starter houses should go up. I'm not saying it is "right", but I would be in favor of at least some subsidy/incentive, because:

1. Getting that first house is a springboard to the middle class,
2. Folks who own a house have something to lose - that is a great motivator for good behavior
3. The alternative to reasonable starter homes is to pack new families into trailer parks and high density apartments - to a certain degree the former is unavoidable in rural areas as is the latter in urban areas, but to make that the only/primary choice for young families has/will continue to be a disaster

So, there's all of that.

Be very clear: what is your superior alternative to human beings owning shelter to live in?

This seems like a relatively neutral question on the basis of morality.

As we currently stand, we are below the replacement birth rate. This helps explain the commitment to immigration from our overlords.

So... where should people live? In a structure someone else owns? In a lean to that they've built in the woods out of materials they've gathered via foraging?

We gotta live somewhere... and SOMEONE has to own where we live.

My point or question is this: How much of what you want is what you actually want or what society conditioned you to want? (for profit)

Interesting point. It kinda falls flat when we realize humans have owned their domiciles for over 10000 years.

I like my shite to look good. Sorry you do not. I mean, I could go with Zeroscape, but nah, grass looks better.

I don’t know that I have one. And I’m not saying that people
shouldn’t own houses.

I’m saying that the ‘need’ for new houses (or however many other things) is largely a marketing construct.

I don’t think so. I think the ‘American Dream’ of owning a house is largely a marketing invention to sell more houses.

Because no one throughout the history of the world ever wanted their own place to live before marketing

More accurately, you are questioning the assumptions of human history. It’s not particular to post-postmodern United States.
