Should the population of the US grow forever into eternity?

No. God granted the right to be free from the government dictating whether or not I own a house.

You struggle with the idea because you don’t believe in God. But you shouldn’t. The idea is truly a human, government construct that sets limits to what the government can do.

You are all twisted up.

I don’t think so. I think the ‘American Dream’ of owning a house is largely a marketing invention to sell more houses.

Shelter is a pretty basic need. And unless you are simply opposed to the concept of owning anything at all, owning one's shelter...sometimes called a house...is about as basic as it gets.

You referred to God as a Spaghetti Monster.

Don’t backtrack now. Own your belief system.

God or nature of the spaghetti monster didn’t create you with the life purpose of owning a house (substitute any of the 100 other things you have been convinced that you have to own).

Is it an assumption that the US should continue building new houses forever?

It is called shelter dawg. Look it up. Humans need it to survive. If you think you do not, good luck to you.

Also there are things called rights. Maybe not what you think they are, but all are based on property, the right to have it and be secure. This is based on the universal agreement that our bodies are our own property. Anything we can make or purchase with the use of our property, without infringing upon another's property, is ours.

Do you not agree that you own yourself?
Do you not agree that you own the fruits of your property's labor?
Can a house not be the fruits of your property's labor?

Link?

Or was this some conclusion you drew on your own after listening to some professor you thought was cool lecture to the class for a semester?

Umm... why would we build nearly twice (not to mention 55 times more) the number of new houses as there are people in the United States? That'd be kinda dumb, wouldn't it?

The average price of a home in 1946 was $5150.

Try 1924 when it was $2500 to $3000.

Those aren't boomers.

The average age of a first time homebuyer in in the mid 30's. That's where I was.

how are you this stupid. Seriously.

having a HOME is a shelter against the elements. All human species have used HOMES as a means for shelters for ALL ETERNITY. Huts, Tents, Cabins, adobes, mud huts, caves, stick huts, brick houses, wood houses, and so forth.

yes, building homes will not stop and yes it is a necessity to continue to build those homes, as the population continues to expand.

He isn't insinuating people shouldn't live in homes. He's insinuating people shouldn't own homes.

He wants people living in soviet or Asian style mega apartment blocks. It's communist gobbledygook.

We'll agree to disagree. I firmly believe the mass majority of people would prefer their own place, they can do what they wish with, than dumping money into a rent hole at an apartment. You can't do anything and when you walk, there is zero equity.

it still is the greatest investment a person can make.

Wrong. People are free to live where they wish.

What I am saying is people have been conditioned to think that a main purpose of their lives is owning a structure.

Then feel free not to participate.

It is that simple, but no one wants to hear you spout off something that you believe to be an earth shattering revelation. That whole argument has been spouted by collectivists for ages. If that is what you want, fine. But please, do not think that you can force others into that ideal.
