re: You know MAGA is the voice of the working class and the GOPe hates it.

They will out themselves when it comes to votes like $40 billion to Ukraine. Many representative and senators voted for that bill who I thought would never vote for something like that.
To be clear, I'm saying they're fakes in their touting of the talking points of the postliberal Christian movement, stuff like raising a family on one income so mom can stay home, etc.
But yeah, they might be fakes in general too

The Democratic Party sold out their historical base to big tech oligarchs and those engaged in identity politics. Trump is the intellectual heir to Ross Perot and has adopted some of the economic positions of Pat Buchanan, who had for more appeal to working class voters than Bush and the GOPe ever could.

The working class makes up their voting base and wants policies that represent them.
The GOPe’s refusal to do so is exactly why we got Trump in 2016.
Pretty much sums it up

The flip may be due to degree types. The '90s seem to have higher concentration of STEM and business degrees. Women's Studies was not that popular during the '90s. Plus a majority of women have college degrees now versus the '90s and women tend to vote Democrat more than men.
But this doesn't explain why higher earners are switching to Democrats when this is a group that normally votes for Republicans.
Voters making over $100k in 2020 voted for Biden by over 13 points. That's a landslide for Biden if only affluent voters were allowed to vote.
Romney won voters making over $100k by huge margins. Trump was the first Republican politician to lose voters making over $100k a year.
Edit:
LINK
You can click '2016-2020 Validated Voter Detailed Tables' and it will show voter breakdown by income.
Voters making between $50k and $100k voted for Trump by 5 points.
Voters making over $100k voted for Biden by 13 points.
Voters making under $50k voted for Biden by 9 points.
So Trump won middle-income voters, lost high-income voters and lost low-income voters.

It's the "icky" factor
People see Trump rallies complete with obese women in cutoffs with grammatically incorrect signage and don't want to associate with it
I'm serious, it's vanity with a dash of self-preservation

Others are intelligent enough to recognize that a New York liberal and lifelong billionaire doesn't actually represent the working class.

This can't account for voting for Biden, however.

I made no such claim.

And candidly, that's how "conservatism" got to this bleak spot to begin with. We're terrified to say what we want morally and ethically for our country, so we talk about markets and cost-benefit, etc.
100% spot on.
We allowed and participated in the redefinition of conservatism on solely economic terms.

The question is "why did well to do people vote for Biden and not Trump" so I'm not sure what you're responding to, in that case

Biden isn't mentioned anywhere in the OP. Whatever conversation you're having outside of that is your business.

Sweet, enlighten us with who your idea of a perfect candidate is.
Remember, they have to be fking perfect in every way so that when we apply the same scrutiny to THEM that you lunatics do to Trump, they will hold up...
Go ahead, who's your perfect Politician?

One of these things is not like the others.

I'm sure he will bless us with his idea of the perfect candidate who can withstand the same scrutiny these lunatics have applied to Trump.
