Do you just forget the Maidan coup, not allowing votes in the Eastern districts, years of violence against the Donbass population??

And years of Russian troops in the Donbas promoting the war there. Then the takeover of Crimea.
Russia is an outsider intruding in Ukraine.

And we wonder why Russia has been paranoid for centuries.

With the current leadership in Moscow? Yeah, no.

Those guys have a much longer view of history than the past 20 years. As others have said befeore, continue to let this be the EU's problem.

Russia has been / will always be our competitors/enemy. Screw them. But, they are sitting on energy resources the world needs. That doesn't even begin to account for the yet untapped resources north of them.

If our leadership had any sense, instead of shooting ourselves in our foot re the Petroleum industry we'd be encouraging them to explore northward to grab what we can. Otherwise Russia will.

Do you realize how contradictory you are here?

Cold Warriorism should have died decades ago. Our enemies are domestic, they are in DC and on Wall Street.

Random factoid. Russia produces and exports a LOT of vodka. However, these days about 90% of Russian vodka sold in the US is not from Russia. They just have labels with a Russian look.

It should have, but Russia made sure it had the chance of recurring. The only difference is Russia's refusal to join the global order has made their strength and projectability decline they can't really engage in Cold War.

The only party that has stopped Russia from joining the post-Cold War world is Russia. They would rather be a kleptocracy propping up their ego by exerting control over weak countries around their borders.

But isn't it really the eastern states in Ukraine that are/were in internal conflict with Ukraine and wanted to join Russia?

Russia stoked an apparent support for Russia, but how organic or "real" that was, is unclear.

You get hung up on the terms and ridged definitions of "globalism" or "nationalism" but the entire point it to make moves that are in best interest of your country.

For Russia, that would be what your OP states.

Russia has rejected that for 20+ years and that's why their standard of living is shite and their country is in shambles, domestically. The only people who have benefited from Russia's bad choices are the oligarchs who are raping the country of the value of its natural resources.

Europe trading with Russia benefits all parties not named U.S.A.

Russia joining a structured trading organization like the EU with the EU benefits the US greatly. The EU is one of our biggest/strongest allies, if not the biggest/strongest. The more countries who engage in trade with both of us makes the world safer and advances our collective populations.

Russia refuses this.

Russia refuses to allow Ukraine to do this, which is what their goals are with all of this interference (literally the entire point of their 2010 coup was to thwart the EU-Ukraine alliance that was in steps of being formed).

Well Democrats are in the White House, so the US is evil now, per Republicans/Trumpkins

Just like how when a Republican wins the Presidency, we'll be fascist again (according to the Leftists)
