Perhaps if he got a modicum of support from our alleged allies and even from within his own party.

Welcome to a nuclear Iran with unlimited power over oil markets and the US economy within a few years.

Holy shite.

Iran won’t even come close to Californias economy.

It was obviously a mistake the minute we started the bombing campaign. Plenty of people said so, and our government has done nothing to dispel that notion.

There was never any chance of lasting results from a pure bombing campaign.

You seem fairly intelligent and measured....what is the long term solution?

At this point? I truly have no idea, it’s a mess now.

But there are a few things that are evident to me: (1) the Iranian population isn’t nearly as amenable to social/political revolution as our government and media told us they are; (2) we either aren't willing or able to police the Strait of Hormuz ourselves (either bizarre or sad, depending on which it is); and as I said in my other post (3) none of our stated goals are possible via a bombing campaign.

We can break things but things can be rebuilt. The solution to the nuclear problem is going to have to be political, not military or kinetic.
