Y do so many of you post links with no input of your own?

I've really never understood this. It's chronic on both sides.
Have Americans completely lost the ability to distill diverse information and form it into their own thoughts?
It would be one thing if it was day, a link to relevant data in a discussion.
But, "uh uh, look, here's this other person's opinion that I'll use as a proxy for my own" is lame assed shite.

I see nothing wrong with posting someone else's thoughts when they have something interesting to say that you wanted to share.

But to your point, yes, there are a lot of shitty drive-by posters on TD. And no, they generally don't want to expose themselves to an argument they won't win. The more meat you put in a post, the more someone can pick at it.

I'll try to always give my take, but sometimes I don't and the reason is that what I say becomes the subject of conversation rather than the topic by itself, so the whole point of discussion is lost in lieu of my take on it. That isn't the point of such a thread. That's one reason I'll do it from time to time, and then I'll post my opinion.
