On YouTube there is a channel where two guys talk international politics. One is Peter Lavelle and the other George Szamuely. Peter hosts a show on RT called Cross Talk. George is often a guest. This youtube thing is a joint venture they do on the side.

They just released a video about Trump and the Ukraine war.

They and another analyst, John Meirsheimer(sp?), believe Trump cannot have an effect because negotiations would be fruitless. George counters with, 'well there is a way Trump can make this stop' - which is to tell Zelensky that the US is out - no more money, materiel, or assistance of any kind. (that is my stance - complete disengagement, forcing Zelensky to sort this out with Putin which would happen almost immediately)

They believe that if Trump were to immediately move to end the war by such disengagement, that the DC uniparty would have impeachment "on speed dial" and that he'd be removed from office, and Peter specifically mentioned Lindsey Graham as leading the charge.

Do you believe this would happen? Ending this war is not a suitable criteria for impeachment and removal but that didn't matter during Trump's first term.

I believe these guys are correct, which is why the 2024 election is important across the board - numerous members of Congress have to go. Whether it's Trump or not, anyone that ends this war ought not be removed from office just to protect the MIC. However, that is what I expect to happen if we don't make great progress in removing a lot of incumbents in 2024.

There was also some speculation that the uniparty would hamstring Trump like they did his first term and prevent him or convince him to not do anything.

Trump will suck up to Graham the entire time, too. And the people of SC will probably go on to re-elect Graham in 2026.

If Trump runs on no more money for Ukraine and gets elected he must follow through.

And if they try to impeach him for doing what he said he was going to do well it wouldn't surprise me but it would only highlight the fact that Washington DC doesn't have much regard for voters.

I agree. However, I think we already know they have no regard for voters. So - just get rid of them now in 2024, and prevent them from doing this.

Trump didn’t stop the war in Ukraine when he was president. What makes you think he would now?

Cutting off funds wouldn’t stop Russia. They’d be reenergized to take over the entire country.

I hope he wins and ends the war.

If they impeach, have pardons drawn up for Snowden and Assange, plus a blanket pardon for nonviolent drug offenders. Drop those while the Senate is voting.

It's his central campaign promise as of now.

Let them have it. It would not affect our national security interests one bit.

So it’s not build the wall? Or drain the swamp? Or getting rid of Obamacare???

That’s debatable.

So far, no. We'll see if that comes later, but as of now his biggest focus has been has been Ukraine.

So Trump is evolving?

I haven’t paid much attention. Other than running DeSantis down and reacting to his legal issues; I haven’t heard him say much.

I dont know what I believe would happen if Trump would take that action.

But I do know if Meirsheimer says there's nothing Trump can do, then I believe it.

Meirsheimer and Vladimir Posner are pretty much the only two people I trust for information regarding the US-Russia relationship and policy between the two countries. They're two of the people I know of who have been predicting the exact scenario we are seeing today for years. They spoke up when many of our policies were adopted. Washington knew what they were doing, and Washington CHOSE to provoke Putin into doing what he did. For thirty years we've been provoking Russia. Finally Putin said "enough".

I fully believe that we, as in the US, is the reason that Russia is in Ukraine. And one this war ends, and Ukranians can collect their thoughts and reflect on what just happened, they will be burning US flags in their streets.

Completely radical idea, tell Putin to stop his invasion.

I know LOL! Call me crazy that I would suggest that the butcher should do that!
