Thats a ridiculous and inferior progressive view of
how things should be handled.
We shouldn't allow those who refuse to follow the rule of law dictate how they are dealt with.
It's no different than allowing a spoiled child to continue their unacceptable behavior because the parent doesn't feel like dealing with it.
It will solve nothing, and only exacerbate the situation.
No one is above the law, right??? It wouldn't take much, a dozen or so city/state officials to be arrested and held accountable, before the rest begin to fall in line.
As far as the possible consequences you listed, that also should be allowed to happen. Those voters should be made to accept responsibility for their votes.

How did cities function before these made up fake stupid sanctuary cities were invented? Did all of the cities go bankrupt and everybody who lived in those cities die before they became a sanctuary city?

Nah, target the businesses hiring illegals in these sanctuary cities, leave em with a bunch of unemployed illegals. They'll stop being sanctuary cities pretty quick.
