Overtaking us in just GDP means little for the discussion.
Their PCGDP is utterly shite.
China will always have an advantage in total GDP for the same reason it will always have an advantage in total manufacturing: it has 2.5-3x the population that we do.
That's why per capita makes such a difference.
China scores a 73 in my 2023 index (taking into account GDP and PCGDP rankings)
The US scores an 8. No other country is in single digits and #2 is almost a score of 20.
Not only is China not competing with us ever, they're not likely to EVER get their score up where Japan/SK currently score

Because they are so far behind.
We're far more efficient and closer to max production than China.

Your words.
Wait, you just said that I was lying. And then say that again.

Most of us evolved, you didnt and want to hold back those who were smarter and worked harder than you.
This is another stupid take out of ignorance. Hey SlowMo.. You may want to read this because the 2 of you say the same things.
Roger just implied that if we use tariffs it will move us backwards.

You have one dollar, and are given a 100% increase.
I have 5 dollars and am given a 25% increase.
Who came out better?

Nope, Liberal.
You want Government to increase your value without having to do anything on your own to help.

The 2018 tariffs shrank GDP growth

Look how fast China and India have risen
It won’t be long before we fall behind

Then posts the chart of GDP!
Del with the facts. We had a 218 year head start. and they are now #2 in the world USING TARIFFS.
And that's the friggin point. Per you and Roger, it would make us poor. And to prove you said , I will quote you from this very damn thread.
MY comment: You and Roger claim that tariffs placed by the USA would make us POOR
Your Response: A lie. They would make us poor
Bless your heart you are so lost on this.

There it is again... Tariffs make nations poor... except for when they work for the world.

Meanwhile, overall higher prices meant higher input costs for sectors like manufacturing, construction and transportation — major sources of demand for these metals — contributing to reduced growth after the tariffs were imposed.

China's economy doesn't compare to our economy
Posted on 4/5/25 at 10:25 am to RogerTheShrubber
China moved to an upper middle class per the World bank and will soon be in the high income classification. And they did it with tariffs and other barriers in a matter of 30 years.
Nothing else you say matters. You are proving yourself wrong on tariffs in every possible way.

The pertinent part is bolded since you seem to be having trouble with it, still, even after it was explained to you in detail.

It's second to ours and we had a 218 year head start. They did it with tariffs and barriers.

So you lied earlier.
Which class are we in, for the third time.
