I'm sure it got that way when the owner's mom stopped floating the expenses. Idiots opened up shop then immediately had to close due to Philly Covid restrictions. There are a lot of small, weird coffee shops in Philly when I was living in the area, had to walk a good bit to find solid Italian shops with good coffee and canolli's and not the weirdos serving shite with chai and smelling like BO, weed, and patchouli. The owner's here made a point of paying "fair" wages to unproductive employees while sourcing expensive ingredients to make products they probably couldn't charge enough for given the clientele they attracted. Can't charge poor weirdos $10 for coffee...
