With crude prices low, now is a great time to kill the ethanol mandate of 2007.

You do realize you can still buy ethanol free gas? Don't worry the oil and gas lobby and oil and gas companies aren't going to allow prices to remain low for much longer. I guess with prices so low you are also an advocate for increasing the federal and state gasoline taxes as well?

quote:

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp plans to shut the small gasoline-producing unit at its 560,500 barrels-per-day (bpd) Baytown, Texas, refinery by early next week because of low demand due to efforts to halt the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The shutdown would mean all three of Exxon’s U.S. Gulf Coast refineries have reduced production.

I agree. How do we make this happen?

Not sure what your flex is, but I’m advocating 10-20% more gasoline being sold and corn being used for grits and whisky.

So adding ethanol to gas makes it cheaper? 'cause the ethanol free stuff costs a good bit more.

Lower energy output, lower mpg, really screws up some motors...nah, you are right....let's just keep it.

Great idea!

But I doubt it will happen. Big Ag has a powerful lobbying presence in Congress. It's about money and US politicians are EASILY bought, my friend -- that's why they went INTO politics in the first place: wealth, prestige, power.

Most premium gas does not contain ethanol. I buy it for my boat as well as the mower and weedeater.

I have stations near me that sell it. I just don’t see the reason for the ethanol.

I agree with this but you’ll lose Iowa.

And trump needs Iowa to get re-elected. He won’t win other states for killing it.

You act like this is readily available.

Luckily in Texas and Louisiana we do have a few stations in each city that you can still find it but in other states it’s impossible to find.

This has been a huge discussion in the boating community for years because ethanol absolutely wrecks outboards fuel systems

Not if he finds a buyer for the corn. No reason Iowans can't maintain corn production if there is someone in Asia/Africa looking for food. Just gotta seal the deal and in the process the gasoline industry is a little less fricked.

No the purpose was to give farmers a steady market for their corn crops. Should they go out of business due to low commodity prices, who is going to grow America's food. Grains(Corn) are a major staple in the production of animal feeds, cereals, sweeteners, and many other food related products.

My truck will run on E85, I wish it was mandated there be a E85 fuel pump available in every parish. It's usually cheaper than gasoline, and provides more horse power. Sure my MPG might be a little less, but it's a trade off I would gladly make.
