Will the term "First Lady" be replaced with "First Partner" in the near future?

Governor Newsom and Siebel Newsom, a filmmaker and activist who will take the title “first partner,” are moving from Kentfield in Marin County to the governor’s mansion in Sacramento with their four young children, including Dutch, who wandered around the stage with a pacifier and blanket during the speech and resisted his parents’ attempts to get him to sit down.

"Lady" is becoming a Taboo word

This is a problem — it adds to damaging notions of femininity, where women are still meant to be, or are inherently, demure and gentle. When female adults are referred to as “ladies,” there’s typically a patronizing attitude present.

“Lady time”
The use of lady in the euphemism “lady time” to refer to menstruation is meant to refine a bodily process that’s deemed by society as unpleasant.

“Ladylike”
“Ladylike” has been used to refer to girls or women who act in accordance to traditionally feminine behaviors: being refined, delicate, crossing legs, not drinking too much.

So the term "ladies and gentlemen" is now offensive? Awesome

No. There's not.

If it implies anything it implies class and manners.

From 2008-2016 First Lady was an entirely inappropriate term but it's fine now.

Bring back POSSLQ. This was a census term about 20 years ago which meant Persons of the Opposite Sex Sharing Living Quarters.

Would need to add many more letters in today's world.

With what she's packing in her pants suit, the Obamas just did a test run on this.
