Been begging for years to allow 'survival of the fittest' guide the development of a societal culture.

Live how you want to live - but if it causes you to starve to death or die in a communal suicide pact, then so be it - make stupid decisions = live with the consequences.

There are many examples of successful cultures to choose from - invent something that can only survive as a parasite and you run the risk of being eliminated from the gene-pool.
