Why won't these celebrities name their rapists/abusers?

Aren't they enabling this behavior if they continue to let it happen? Harvey was just one guy but apparently there were tons more. So the rest are just allowed to continue on because HW is the fall guy and everyone else is too selfish about what they think it'll do to their career?

I don't know. Gives it a mass hysteria flavor, though. I still tend to think the behavior is pervasive in Hollywood, though.

I'm not excusing anyone from coming forward with names, but lets not pretend to know what that world is like. Especially for a newcomer who fears their career could come to a crashing halt if they speak out. Or if the culture is THAT corrupt, who do you really go to? I imagine that's why a lot of people in all walks of society don't come forward with this info: they just don't feel anyone will believe them.

One of the stories I read on Weinstein stated he had it in his contracts that he couldn't be fired/sued for any sexual accusations of deviancy.

Because they want those million dollar acting careers, unlike the NFL players who kneel during the anthem

Hardly anyone talking now is new. And anyone who said anything now would be praised. If anything, waiting so long like they did with Harvey meant that dozens of more women got victimized. Aren't the people who didn't say anything years ago partly responsible? Wouldn't anyone who kept quiet today about someone else be partially responsible for all the other girls/guys in the future? Again, they seem like they're enabling this culture by simply admitting it exists.

Some of these are very powerful people with very powerful ties who may do things that most us cannot conceive of (reference other posts I have submitted). Very sinister people who are capable of anything...

This thread from Ron Paul Forums is the closing thing I have seen to "naming names"...

It is a comprehensive account with pics

Paedophilia in Hollywood

As crazy as this sounds, I am going to make a thread later about what "crazy" Randy Quaid has to say about ole Hollywood...

Weinstein is a big name in the industry. One of the biggest. Accusations are finally to the point where it can't be swept under the rug, and that gives people courage to actually say something.

But the sad truth of it is money talks, and that's driving a lot of motivations. Hopefully more will come of this, and at least the major offenders know that the cat is close to being out of the bag.

If someone offered me a leading roll in a movie franchise, a million dollars, and a shot at superstardom, I'd watch him shower and then beat off into a plant with a smile on my face.

As long as all parties were consenting adults I fail to see the issue.

Some probably don't want to lose opportunities

Some probably are outright lying

Some probably are telling the truth, but it's been a long time and they don't think the person is some big time predator and don't want to make a scene about it

Some probably have a recollection, and they're fine jumping into the fray with it, but aren't confident enough to attack someone by name on it

I’ve wondered this too. I think someone like Corey Feldman uses it as an extortion method and for publicity. I’m not saying it didn’t happen, I’m just saying he could name names.
How does he get money to make crappy records? This last time he was “well it goes on but I can’t name names because I’ll get sued. But, check out my upcoming tour with my horrible band.”

My guess is that these people a) don't want to get the shite sued out of them, and b) don't want to risk getting ostracized.
