I think the argument for staying in NATO is more about maintaining our cultural bond. Think of it like the Monroe Doctrine but for Europe.

Europe is on a slow path of self-destruction, but it’s worth saving due to its rich history. That’s why we should be on their arse about immigration and censorship.

NATO has benefitted national security for decades. Member nations have also furnished troops to fight alongside U.S. troops…

Russia is of zero consequence to the US at this point. Even if they get a breakthrough on Ukraine, its not like they are going to sweep through Europe, Poland has a stronger military than Ukraine does

Russia doesn't think that one bit.

We go to war with China and Russia grabs the Baltics.

They walk right in.

Europe collectively dwarves the population and economy of Russia, there is no reason we should need to be there. If they have a security problem, its from their lack of will.

Agreed. But we still want them holding the back door in a China fight.

I dont see the strategic purpose in subsidizing a group of countries who largely no longer share our values

I fully agree that they need to pay their share.

Else we can strategically withdraw troops and enhance penalties.

we can influence these nations away from EU enslavement

What evidence can you display of this over the last 15 years? The UK happily voted for Brexit, and then re-bound itself to all kinds of EU rules. I would argue that the EU and UK are happily drilling holes in what is left of their life raft.

Angela Merkel steered Germany towards a cliff, and left a cinder block on the gas pedal.

A German court said Thursday that the country’s domestic intelligence agency can’t label the Alternative for Germany party a proven right-wing extremist group while it considers a complaint by the opposition party against last year’s designation.

The BfV intelligence agency announced its decision on Alternative for Germany, or AfD, in May. It described the party as a threat to the country’s democratic order, saying it “disregards human dignity” — in particular by what it called “ongoing agitation” against refugees and migrants.

AfD swiftly filed a suit to the administrative court in Cologne, where the agency is based. The agency then suspended the designation, which would allow it to carry out greater and broader surveillance of the party’s activities, pending a ruling from the court.

Journey is a really good comparison.

That we even tried? None, Obama Loved it, Trump was sabotaged from day 1 in term 1, and Biden loved it.

Yep, I know we have the strongest military in the world but going it alone isn’t the answer. It’s never been an issue til trump came along.

The US should stop funding NATO. Pay a medium amount and remain a member. Relocate NATO to Switzerland.

What I meant was any resistance of any EU member country (other than Eastern Europe) to surrendering national sovereignty to Brussels, including cutting their own wrists on energy, immigration, etc.

The Greeks fought pretty hard on the debt limit way back when, but other than that ...?

To your point Easter Europe remembers communism.
The Poles are fighting hard now, Tusk is a wannabe dictator.

Romania had a moment... Then the EU Stomped them.

Hungary.

All Eastern,

Besides Brexit, Italy fighting over refugees and budget is as close as we get, the rest fall into line.

Also some hope for Portugal now, but we will see.
