Perfect example of just how meaningless the President's words really are. ANd if you do technical analysis of the stock market and the jobs market you'll come to the same conclusion. 4 of the 5 biggest contributors to the Federal Government happen to have Democratic governors. 3 of the 5 biggest drains on the Federal government have Republican governors. Look it up and you'll find the President is not be factual or honest - again

Just to be clear, people not states contribute to the federal govt via taxes. Is it ok in your opinion if we now refer to the numerous voters in your party (like 70% of the African Americans) as “drains on the federal govt”?

Does your link specify the sources of funding for the welfare programs?

Name the states and your source. You can find sources all over the net that tell just about any story you look for.

We bailed out multibillion dollar corporations for mismanaging their own businesses. This argument seems a little silly in comparison... But that's conservatives these days.

Conservatives were not in favor of bailouts

So, for NYS, if I want to see the breakdown of FA and SNA, the former funded by the federal government while the latter is funded by the state and the counties, I can see that on his link?

First of all...

You need to do some research.

They also use more welfare than nearly every state.

Did you do any research? You weren't using absolute numbers instead of per-capita numbers, right? That would be embarassing. The only possible caveat is that these graphs are a few years out of date, but there's no way things have flipped so that only blue states are on top and only red states are on the bottom. That's fantasy.

Mississippi
Louisiana
New Mexico
Arizona
Kentucky
Montana
Tennessee
Wyoming
Alaska
Missouri

this was the Top 10 from like 5 years ago, though, so the information might be dated. The source is the US Census Bureau Tax Foundation for States' Federal Aid as a Percentage of General Revenue for the Fiscal Year of 2016

You have the link, right? Why ask questions you know the answer to? You feeling like a winner here?

The federal govt should take over NY, clearly they can’t run themselves. Just look at all the people who died due to Cuomo

Does that include all their state taxes that they had been deducting from their federal taxes? Thank God, TRUMP put a stop to that practice.

Well, whether you realize it or not, the answers to those questions are relevant in this context. Obviously.

Well, not so obviously for some.

So why not answer them? Why ask others the answer? Why not make a statement and not some leading question?

States don't pay anything to the federal government and a state running out of money is solely based on the policies of that state.

Federal tax laws are the same for everyone

It's all a rather silly exercise either way. Louisiana has a democratic governor. Is it a "red" state just because of how it has recently voted in presidential elections? Are its "red" voters or "blue" voters the primary beneficiaries of the federal largesse?

I agree, and I'd also add that there's no meaningful trend either way. What liberals say about blue states being bastions of giving back more than they receive is also a fallacy. Some states suck, some states have their shite together, and it doesn't really matter if they're red or blue or what party their governor is in at the moment.

I don't even disagree with Trump's statement until he says the unnecessary BS line "in all cases Democrat run and managed". In ALL CASES? Really, Trump? Is Mississippi well run?

So 6 Rep governors and 4 Dems. I was expecting something more overwhelming given comments posted.
