The CCC gave lots of young working-aged Americans the opportunity to earn their way and learn employment skills, while creating infrastructure projects which still stand today.

Wouldn’t this sort of program be a valuable resource to help those stuck in generational welfare to break the cycle?

Because the people who are unemployed today, as opposed to the Depression era, don't want a job.

The Democrats absolutely would oppose it.

How would it benefit them politically?

I agree. It would be interesting to see how that would play out in 2018 compared to the 1930's.

Are there no programs in city, county, state and in the federal government for jobs, training, schooling and support across the entire nation? Really?

They are on the government dole. They get housing and a check every month. They have no incentive nor desire to work. Liberalism destroyed it!

I guess most of the men who were in the CCC are dead now,but it must have been great to go to National Parks, and Landmarks, and tell your family "I helped build this cool stuff.
and it is still some cool stuff.

True dat - I love the facilities they build in the National Forest and National Parks.

However - those were done by people who really wanted to work. They were given the opportunity to earn enough money to sustain their families. There was no other options.

Today, the fat assed welfare leeches would have to be forced to join a work force - they would rather go to prison and lounge around in the gyms and TV rooms. than to have to actually work.

I'm all for it - eliminate all government payment to any able-bodied male (or female for that matter.)

We have record low unemployment. Companies are literally begging for workers, skilled and unskilled. There isn’t a lack of oppurtunity.

Nope.

It will become a big ole welfare hole.

How about ending welfare as know it instead?

No, because with the low unemployment we have now any healthy person who wants to work can find a job. There's no need for taxpayers to be on the hook for another bureaucracy.

1. People wanted to work

2. Now we would have to pay really well, provide great healthcare to them, and it would be impossible to turn it back off again

Kentucky's Audubon State Park is a great example of the fantastic projects built by the CCC. However, I agree with your sentiments. Today's public mindset is welfare oriented.

Those who aren't working don't want to because they don't have to earn a living. When they can get a "disability draw" because of their "nerves" or obesity, they much prefer to suck the government pig's teat.
